ODAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 2

ODAC men's volleyball programs competed in 13 matches during week two including one ODAC outing and the first three matches for Bridgewater's new program. The Eagles won the second match on their ledger, downing Bethany (W.Va.), 3-0. Defending ODAC champion Randolph-Macon opened its season with a 2-0 start.

  • DAEMAN ODOM | EMU | MIDDLE
    Odom, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., was ever-present at the net in EMU's first four matches of the season, which included a trio of five-set outings. Odom posted 23 total blocks including six solo efforts to go with four digs and 23 kills at a .365 clip. On Friday against Wittenberg (L, 3-1) and Thiel (L, 3-2), Odom combined for 10 kills and 10 total blocks with a trio of solo stuffs. On Saturday against Westminster (Mo.)(L, 3-2) and Marian (Wis.)(W, 3-2), again had an even split of offense and defense with 13 kills and 13 total blocks with three solo rejections against Westminster.

  • DEREK DIAZ | EMU | OUTSIDE
    Diaz, a junior from Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, was both busy (129 swings) and productive (55 kills) in the first four matches of EMU's season that included a trio of five-set outings. On Friday against Wittenberg (L, 3-1) and Thiel (L, 3-2), Diaz combined for 17 kills with an ace, 12 digs, and a pair of block assists. On Saturday against Westminster (Mo.)(L, 3-2) and Marian (Wis.)(W, 3-2), Diaz notched 20 and 18 kills, respectively while hitting over. 350 in both matches. He combined for three assists, two aces, 16 digs, and four total blocks.
