ODAC Men's Tennis Report: Report 10

ODAC men's tennis returned to action with a handful of matches featuring five schools. Virginia Wesleyan was the lone league squad to earn a win, going 2-0 with victories of Piedmont and Pfeiffer.

  • ANDRES MERCEDES / EMMANUEL OYE | GUILFORD COLLEGE
    Mercedes, a senior from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Oye, senior from Clayton, N.C., helped the Quakers avoid being swept in doubles action by claiming victory at the No. 1 ladder position in Guilford's 6-1 team loss to Piedmont University. Mercedes and Oye posted a 6-4 triumph over Mark Backeberg and Rohan Kavali.

  • JED PLATTS | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
    Platts, a junior from Bath, England, helped the Marlins open the spring season with a pair of team wins by going 2-0 in singles play from the top-two ladder positions. In a 4-0 victory over Piedmont, Platts faced Mark Backeberg at No. 2 singles and earned a 6-2, 6-3 triumph. In a 6-1 team victory over Pfeiffer, Platts competed at No. 1 singles and posted a 7-6, 6-2 win over Valter Davi Marques Albuquerque.
