ODAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 6

It was a fairly light week for ODAC men's volleyball with just nine matches featuring league teams including a pair of conference matches. Virginia Wesleyan claimed the two league showdowns over Shenandoah (3-0) and Bridgewater (3-1). The Marlins went 3-0 overall to improve to 11-1 in all matches and 3-0 in league play, all chart-toppers in the ODAC table. Randolph-Macon, which is receiving votes towards the latest AVCA top-20 poll, went 2-1 to improve to 9-2 overall, and Roanoke accounted for the remaining victory to increase its record to 5-3.

  • CARLYLE CAMPBELL | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | MIDDLE
    Campbell, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., helped Virginia Wesleyan improve to 11-1 on the season with three more victories including a pair of ODAC foes. Campbell notched nine total blocks and five digs to go with eight kills and three aces over his 10 sets of action in the Marlins' victories over Shenandoah (3-0) on Friday and Bridgewater (3-1) and Wilson College (3-0) on Saturday. Campbell registered four block-assists each against SU and BC to go along with four digs, two aces, and five kills. Against Wilson, he went for one block, a dig, an ace, and three kills. He earned a .444 attack percentage with eight kills and zero errors on 18 swings.

  • JAMARHE WILLS | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | OUTSIDE
    Wills, a junior from Newport News, Va., extends his run of ODAC Offensive Player of the Week to four straight following a 3-0 week for Virginia Wesleyan including to conference victories to improve to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in league play. Wills registered 49 kills on a .300 clip with an ace, 26 digs, and three total blocks. On Friday in a 3-0 win over Shenandoah, Wills posted 15 kills and a .333 attack percentage with an ace, six digs, and two total blocks. He followed up with 14 kills on a .276 attack percentage in a 3-1 win over Bridgewater on Saturday. He added three assists, 14 digs, and a block to his line. In Saturday's second match in a 3-0 win over Wilson, Wills smacked 20 kills at a .293 clip with two assists and six digs. For the season, Wills leads the ODAC in kills (184), kills per set (4.84), points (205.5), and points per set (5.41). He is fourth in attack percentage (.422, 184-44-332). Wills' kills and kills per set numbers are both second in Division III. He is No. 4 in points per set.
