ODAC Equestrian Report 9

The ODAC two ranked teams by the NCEA returned to single-discipline action on Friday with No. 5 Sweet Briar hosting No. 1 Lynchburg. The Vixens handed the Hornets their first team loss of the season by the slimmest of margins.

The two squads tied 5-5 on points with Lynchburg claiming the fences session, 3-2, and Sweet Briar claiming the flat competition, 3-2. It all came down to points with SBC edging Lynchburg, 770.50-748.50 to claim the win. The Vixens are now 5-3 on the year, while the Hornets sit at 6-1.

    Dachis, a senior from Franklin Lakes, N.J., picks up her second straight ODAC fences competition weekly award after earning MOP honors during the session to help nationally fifth-ranked Sweet Briar post a 5-5 (770.5-748.5) win over No. 1 Lynchburg. Dachis posted an 84.5 while riding Kobe to win her matchup with Rebecca Collier by 29.5 points.

  • AMAYA BELLFIELD | LYNCHBURG
    Bellfield, a first-year from Longmont, Colo., returns to the ODAC awards circle after claiming two of Lynchburg's points along with MOP honors for her showing during the flat competition in the nationally top-ranked Hornets narrow 5-5 (770.5-748.5) loss at No. 5 Sweet Briar. On the flat, Bellfield registered a tight 79.5-79.0 victory over Hallie Nelson. They both rode Trey in competition. Bellfield also contributed a point over fences, riding James to a score of 85 to defeat Nelson by one point.
