FOREST, Va. --- Three schools saw three players each earn all-conference recognition and
Washington and Lee University received three of the five special individual honors to highlight the 2026 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards.
The nationally fourth-ranked Generals were joined by
Bridgewater College and
Randolph-Macon College with a league-best three All-ODAC honorees each. WLU All-American forward
Mary Schleusner furthered her ODAC record with her sixth and seventh top player awards as she earned both the ODAC Player of the Year and ODAC Defensive Player of the Year plaques for a third straight season. She collected the latter honor as well as ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels in 2023 to mark four straight seasons of special individual recognition.
Washington and Lee mentor
Brittney Kemp secured her first ODAC Coach of the Year prize following a vote of her peers.
Hollins University forward
Jacorra Russell garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
Guilford College forward
Anna Giannopoulou received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year distinction from the league's athletic communications personnel.
Schleusner is chasing rarified air as she and her Generals teammates prepare for semifinal action in the Salem Civic Center on Saturday. Schleusner is already the ODAC all-time record holder in rebounds (1,889) and blocked shots (337), the former of which is also the Division III all-time benchmark. She enters the weekend with 2,347 career points, the second-best total in all of ODAC basketball history (men or women) behind only former Randolph-Macon national player of the year Megan Silva's 2,371 markers.
The Charlotte-native currently leads the ODAC in scoring (20.8) and rebounding (17.0). She is second in blocked shots (55), fourth in field goal shooting (.494, 20-of-419), and 11th in foul shooting (.746, 100-of-134). She leads Division III with 24 double-doubles with every two-pronged effort furthering her national all-time record, which currently stands at 92. She led the country in doubles in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Kemp is in her second season in Lexington. Her ODAC top-seeded Generals not only completed an unbeaten ODAC slate (16-0), but at 25-0 entering the conference tournament, Washington and Lee achieved the first-ever completely blemish-free regular season in ODAC history. WLU's 26-game winning streak entering the semifinals is currently the second-longest in Division III behind two-time defending national champion NYU's historic run of 86 straight games. Washington and Lee owns the fourth-best rating (66.777) in the Division III NCAA Power Index (NPI) listing towards the NCAA Tournament. Kemp currently boasts a 94-38 (.712) overall record including 51-5 (.911) at WLU.
Russell has made an immediate impact at Hollins, joining the ODAC's top-rookie award with an All-ODAC Third Team selection. She started all 26 of HU's games and averaged 12.0 points and 6.9 rebounds with 49 steals, 34 blocked shots, and 34 assists. She notched five double-doubles and posted a pair of 20-point games including a career-best 23 markers in an overtime win at Averett University in January.
Giannopoulou is just the second Quaker to earn the women's basketball scholar-athlete award since it was instituted in 2004. In the classroom, the biology and health sciences double-major maintains a 3.79 grade point average with future plans to attend the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine (class of 2030). Giannopoulou is a perennial member of Guilford's Dean's List and a three-time ODAC All-Academic Team honoree. On the floor, the Athens, Greece-native averaged 15.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while leading the conference with 61 blocked shots to go with 53 steals and 54 assists. She recorded 11 double-doubles.
Six of the 18 All-ODAC honorees are appearing on an awards team for at least the second straight season. Schleusner and RMC's
McKenzie Matheny are both repeat first team selections, while fellow first team choice
Riley Corcoran from Bridgewater moves up from the 2025 second team. Both teammate
Jay Garcia and Yellow Jackets' point guard
Sam Smith are second team picks for a second time, while Generals guard
Quinn McGuinness moved up to this year's second team after a third team honor last year.
