RICARDS SPAKS | UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG
Spaks, a sophomore from Liepaja, Latvia, collects his second ODAC singles award in three weeks after going 2-1 in top-flight action with a ranked victory and his lone loss in three sets to a Division I opponent. In the Hornets showdown at cross-town rival Randolph (L, 1-6), Spaks earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Jacob Martin. The Hornets then traveled to Division I-member Longwood University (L, 0-7) with Spaks nearing pulling off the upset in a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8-10) result versus Timeo Puech. In the Hornets second ODAC meeting of the week at Shenandoah (L, 1-6), Spaks earned arguably his biggest victory of the season by defeating reigning ODAC Player of the Year, Dominick Suwak, 6-2, 6-1. Suwak is ranked 46th in Division III and sixth in the ITA's Atlantic South Region. Spaks is slotted 19th in the region.
