ODAC Field Hockey Report: Week 9

  • EMMA LANDIS | RANDOLPH-MACON | SR | F | ANNANDALE, N.J.
Landis a senior from Annandale, N.J., played a major role in the Yellow Jackets securing the second seed in the upcoming ODAC field hockey tournament as she notched four goals including a game-winner in one of Randolph-Macon's two ODAC victories. RMC is 6-3 in ODAC play and 11-6 overall, marking the program's most victories under head coach Jess Weiss. Landis rattled the cage twice in a 3-0 win at Virginia Wesleyan. She scored the second goal at 19:33 off an assist from Mackenzie Wunderlich and then scored the third goal via an unassisted effort with 21:31 showing on the game clock. In the regular season finale against Roanoke, Landis again score twice. She opened the ledger off an assist by Llana Thach in the seventh minute. In field hockey, that first goal is considered the game-winner given that Randolph-Macon never gave up the lead it created, but Landis left no doubt of her impact by scoring the difference-making third goal off an assist from Alaina McCoy for a 3-0 lead just 3:21 into the second half. For the season, Landis has registered 11 points on five goals and one assist.
