COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Sweet Briar College goalkeeper
Reiyn Hart added the first national recognition of her career on Wednesday as she was named the Division III Defensive Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
Hart, a junior from Bridgton, Maine, donned the pads for 145:01 of game time as she helped Sweet Briar to a 1-1 week against ODAC foes with both goals requiring extra time and one going to penalty strokes. On Wednesday, Hart made three saves in 65:01 in front of cage to help the Vixens post a 2-1 overtime victory over EMU. On Friday, Hart pulled an 80:00 minute shift through regulation and overtime that saw neither SBC nor Batten move the scoreboard. The Marlins won the shootout, 4-3, to earn the 1-0 win. Hart made 14 saves over the course of the afternoon and early evening, giving her 17 for the week. On the season, Hart leads the ODAC by a wide margin with 165 saves and 11.79 saves per game on a .740 save percentage.
