Richardson, a sophomore from Vero Beach, Va., helped Randolph-Macon open the 2024 calendar year with a 1-1 showing in dual meets. Richardson swam six times with two individual wins, two individual silver medals, and a pair of relay triumphs. In a 143-62 loss to Marymount University on Friday, Richardson finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:50.18 and 0:55.63, respectively, with his 200-free time marking a personal season-best. He was 0.24 and 0.27 seconds off the winner in both races, respectively. Richardson joined teammates Evan Fannin, Ben Pastva, and Aidan Campbell in winning the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:30.45. On Saturday, Randolph-Macon earned a 122-35 win over Virginia Wesleyan. Richardson won the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke events in 2:03.07 and 2:03.86, respectively, with his 200-back time a personal season-best. He then joined Matthew Appleton, Carter Bingman, and Matthew Romero for a gold medal in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:30.60.
