ODAC Golf Report: Fall - Week 9

Both ODAC men's and women's golf fall seasons are in the books with the final two tournaments until February conducted over the past week. Current Clippd rankings for all schools and any player ranked 200th or better in Division III are listed later in this report.

MEN'S GOLF - One Tournaments

  • The O'Briant-Jensen Memorial (Results): Weather akin to a “North Carolina January winter's day” forced the cancellation of the second round at The Cardinal by Pete Dye, leaving 20 teams and 110 players with just 18 holes to close the fall season. Nationally 33rd-ranked Lynchburg (3rd) led the ODAC's contingent that also included No. 36 Bridgewater (T4th), Shenandoah (T6th), No. 48 Guilford (T6th), No. 49 Averett (T14th), Roanoke (17th), and Randolph-Macon (18th). Rankings noted are prior to the start of the tournament.

WOMEN'S GOLF - One Tournaments

  • Chick-fil-A Invitational (Results): Two ODAC schools were in action at the final women's tournament of the fall hosted at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Georgia. Virginia Wesleyan finished fifth, while Shenandoah chimed in 12th.
  • JULIETTE COFFEY | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
Coffey, a junior from Woodbridge, England, collects her second ODAC weekly award after closing the fall season with a top-10 showing at the Chick-fil-A Invitational hosted by Berry College at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Georgia. Coffey placed solo 10th at 8-over 154 following 36 holes of competition on the par-73 layout set to 5,721 yards. Coffey birdied the par-4 13th hole in round one to help her to a 6-over 79. She improved by four shots in round two thanks to a trio of birdies for a 2-over 75. Coffey finished seven strokes of a trio of players in first place at 1-over 147 – Marisa Alfes from Ohio Northern University, Claire Smith from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Yvette Gorden from Huntingdon College.

Virginia Wesleyan placed fifth out of 15 teams at 65-over 649 (331-318), the Marlins second-best team 36-hole showing of the fall.

  • CHASE SNYDER | ROANOKE COLLEGE
Snyder, a first-year from Waynesboro, Va., registered his second straight top-10 and first top-3 finish at the weather-shortened O'Briant-Jensen Memorial to collect his first ODAC weekly honor. Snyder tied for second overall with Matthew Gover from Huntingdon College at 1-over 72 following 18 holes on par-72 track set to 6,866 yards at The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, N.C. Snyder registered four birdies in his round at the event hosted by Guilford, which was cut short one round due to inclement weather. It was a tale of two nines for Snyder as he started on No. 10 and posted three birdies and four bogeys through No. 18 before enjoying a much quieter front nine holes with seven pars.

Roanoke closed the fall season by finishing 17th out of 20 teams at 39-over 323.

    • SHENANDOAH: finished 12th at 97-over 681 (356-325) at the Chick-fil-A Invitational
      • Manon Branfaux tied for 33rd at 21-over 167 (87-80)
