Generals Selected to Host NCAA Women's Tennis Early Round Action

WLU Receives First Round Bye, Welcomes Five Teams to Lexington

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Washington and Lee University, winners of 22 straight and 34 overall ODAC women's tennis championships, was selected one of eight early round hosts in the Division III Women's Tennis Championship team tournament field, as announced by the NCAA on Monday. The Generals are appearing in the bracket for a 32nd time.

The bracket again features 49 teams with the allotment of automatic qualifiers as conference champions increasing my one to 39 qualifiers. The remaining 10 programs were selected at-large by the committee.

Washington and Lee (17-5) is located in the upper-right quadrant of the bracket. The Generals welcome five entrants to Lexington for first, second, and third round action. WLU's pod will feature a pair of first round matchups. Asbury College (13-4) and N.C. Wesleyan University (9-6) will meet in one match with the winner squaring off with Emory University (15-5) in the second round. Swarthmore College (16-4) and Penn State-Harrisburg (15-7) account for the remaining first round pairing with the winner meeting the Generals in round two.

Early round action begins on Friday, May 9 in Lexington with a few locations starting on Thursday, May 8. Each site includes three rounds of play with the eight winners heading to Bisantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Californina to play of the title. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 20-21, with the championship match two days later on Friday, May 23.

Still to be announced are participants in the singles and doubles championships. Those are slated to be release on NCAA.com on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
