BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall has announced Noah Hughes ‘24 as the College’s next Head Tennis Coach.
Hughes returns to Bridgewater after serving as the Head Coach of the Ferrum tennis program last season. In his first season with the Panthers, Hughes witnessed both the men’s and women’s programs make significant strides, as each team doubled its win total from the previous season. The 2025 spring was highlighted by the men’s team’s first victory over Randolph-Macon in 15 years and the program’s first ODAC victory since 2019.
“Noah brings in knowledge of the game of tennis as well as an understanding of the ever-changing landscape of the sport,” said Kendall. “We’re excited to have him back to ead our tennis programs.”
The 2024 BC graduate was an All-ODAC honoree in 2022 at No. 3 doubles with partner Matthew Gordon and was a three-year starter in the Crimson and Gold. Hughes served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons and was named to the ODAC Sportsmanship Team.
“I would like to thank the administration for the opportunity to come back to a community that is near to my heart,” said Hughes. “I am excited to get started and to lead this program in a new direction.”
A native of Fishersville, Va., Hughes graduated from Bridgewater with a degree in Health and Exercise Science in 2024. Along with his time at Ferrum, Hughes has served as a tennis and pickleball teaching professional at Sea Pines Racquet Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Spotswood Country Club in Harrisonburg. He also spent a short stint as an assistant coach at East Texas Baptist University before his time with the Panthers.
