  • SARAH LADD | WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Ladd, a first-year from Mobile, Ala., faced stiff competition in her first three collegiate singles matches, but was up to the task by going 2-1 at the CNU Mock Duals  hosted by Christopher Newport University over the weekend. Ladd opened by defeating Sarah Sandoval Banuelos from the University of Mary Washington, 6-1, 6-2, before losing a close 7-5, 7-5 decision against Feline van Eijkelenburg from Division I Longwood University. Ladd capped her weekend with a straight-set win on Sunday, 6-4, 7-6 (4), over Lindsey Bergelin from CNU. Ladd's UMW and CNU opponents project to lineup at No. 1 singles this season for their respective teams.
