ODAC Women's Tennis Report: Report 2

ODAC women's tennis saw a few dual matches postponed or cancelled last week, but two multi-team events were conducted as scheduled. Sweet Briar hosted its annual Battle of the Blue Ridge tournament with Guilford, Lynchburg, and Shenandoah joining the Vixens in open singles and doubles play. Averett was among several schools that took part in the two-day Monarch Fall Women's Invitational hosted by Methodist University.

  • SIDDHI KHOT | AVERETT UNIVERSITY
    Khot, a junior from Pune, India, defeated a pair of players from Division II schools as part of her 3-0 showing to claim the Flight 2 singles title at the Monarch Fall Women's Invitational hosted by Methodist University. In the opening round, Khot defeated Olivia Carpenter from Piedmont University, 6-1, 6-2. Her next two opponents were both from Division II schools. In the semifinals, Khot earned a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Claudia Zaratiegui from Barton College. The going was a bit tougher in the final against Victoria Calle from the University of Mount Olive, but Khot recovered to post a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 win to claim the flight championship.

  • ELLA BODDINGTON / BRENDA POULAKIDAS | AVERETT UNIVERSITY
    Boddington, a junior from Nottingham, England, and Poulakidas, a senior from Salta, Argentina, won the Flight 2 doubles at the Monarch Fall Women's Invitational hosted by Methodist University over the weekend. Boddington and Poulakidas went 3-0 on the way to the flight victory. They opened with a 6-4 triumph over Emma Hulicki and Shea Bieniek from Methodist. In the semifinals, AU's tandem defeated Halee Harper and Sarah Sanabia from Piedmont University, 6-2. The score was the same in the final as Boddington and Poulakidas topped Julie Jagiella and Alina Esser from Division II member University of Mount Olive to claim the flight.

    • Lynchburg's Isadora Lima went unbeaten in singles and doubles at the Battle of the Blue Ridge, posting a pair of singles victories and joining Kayla Kosiorek for two doubles victories.
    • Shenandoah's Olivia Guzzo went 2-0 singles play at Sweet Briar's annual Battle of the Blue Ridge. SU's duo of Samantha Calvert and Erin Talko went 2-0 in their doubles matches.
    • Sweet Briar's Maggie Minton highlighted the Vixens' efforts at its annual Battle of the Blue Ridge tournament by going 2-0 in two singles matches and adding another win in doubles play with partner Ari Venturi.
