ODAC Women's Tennis Report: Report 8

ODAC women's tennis returned to play with three teams active for three total matches including the first conference showdown of the spring season. Nationally 19th-ranked Washington and Lee claimed that league “W” with a 7-0 triumph over Shenandoah. Averett went 1-1 with a win over RIT and a loss to No. 25 Christopher Newport.

    Donnelly, a sophomore from Darien, Conn., and Long, a senior from Carmel, Ind., claimed the deciding doubles point for nationally 19th-ranked Washington and Lee on Friday against Shenandoah, defeating Olivia Guzzo and Atlee Hilliard by a 6-1 final at No. 1 doubles. The match marked Long's first action of the season after she missed the fall due to injury, and it was the first time that Long and Donnelly had ever been paired together in doubles play.

    Long, a senior from Carmel, Ind., returned to the court after missing the fall season due to injury with her first win over the year at No. 1 singles to help nationally 19th-ranked Washington and Lee to a 7-0 triumph over Shenandoah in the first league match of the spring season. Long posted a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Olivia Guzzo as she begins her quest to become the second four-time ODAC Player of the Year in women's tennis. Former WLU star Sonja Meighan claimed four high honors from 2012-15.
