MARY SCHLEUSNER | WASHINGTON AND LEE | FORWARD
Schleusner, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., added a second Division III record to her growing journal of conference and national benchmarks in helping nationally fifth-ranked Washington and Lee to a pair of victories to improve to 19-0 overall and 10-0 in ODAC games. Schleusner notched two more double-doubles to not only tie for the Division III lead with 16 this season, but bring her career total to a new D-III best 85.
The Division III career rebounding leader – currently at 1,777 – averaged 22.0 points and 18.0 rebounds in WLU's over Roanoke (69-47) and at Virginia Wesleyan (64-59) with 13 total offensive boards to go with two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots. Against RC, Schleusner posted 17 points and 20 boards (8 offensive) to go with two assists, a steal, and a blocked shot. She turned up the production to 27 points against the Marlins, going 10-of-19 from the field and 7-of-9 from the line. She pulled down 16 rebounds (5 offensive) and chipped in a steal and a blocked shot. Schleusner's 44 points this week gives her 2,220 for her career. That leaves her 43 points shy of matching former Guilford star Laura Haynes for second in the ODAC record book and 151 markers away former Randolph-Macon national player of the year Megan Silva, the all-time scoring leader for all of ODAC basketball.
For the season, Schleusner leads the ODAC in both scoring (21.9) and rebounding (17.4). She is third in blocked shots (40), fifth in field goal shooting (.495, 154-of-311), seventh in foul shooting (.741, 80-of-108), and 12th in assists (50).
