ODAC Women's Tennis Report: Report 16

  • ELISA BATTERMANN / DILARA SULTANOVA | AVERETT UNIVERSITY
    Battermann, a senior from Ziest, Netherlands, and Sultanova, a junior from Ismir, Turkey, enjoy their second straight ODAC weekly doubles honor. They are now 11-1 overall and 7-0 in ODAC play as a tandem after going 2-0 at No. 1 doubles to help Averett to two of the team's three victories last week. In a 7-0 triumph at Shenandoah, Battermann and Sultanova posted a 6-1 win over Atlee Hilliard and Olivia Guzzo. The Cougars' pair added a second 6-1 win over Charlize Green and La'Kasia Williams in AU's 7-0 non-conference victory at Salem College. Averett also defeated Division II-member Davis & Elkins College, 6-1.

  • SUNNA MAASS | AVERETT UNIVERSITY
    Maass, a sophomore from Berlin, Germany, went 3-0 at three different flights of singles action to help Averett to a trio of away victories last week. In the Cougars 6-1 win at Division II-member Davis & Elkins College on Tuesday, Maas won at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 result over Maddie Frazier. Maass then competed at No. 5 singles at Shenandoah, registering a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Kendra Gillette as part of AU's 7-0 team win over SU. Maass moved up to the No. 1 position in the Cougars' 7-0 non-conference win at Salem College. She recovered for a well-won 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Adley Keim.
