HARRISONBURG, Va. — Inclement weather just won't leave the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships alone.
For the second straight season, rain and thunderstorms caused a significant delay in action, setting back conference athletes an hour before they could resume action on Saturday at the EMU Track & Field Complex in Harrisonburg. Still, the second-year facility played host to seven new championship records and a few near-misses as the league's stars showcased their talents.
Nationally sixth-ranked Lynchburg claimed its sixth straight and 34th overall men's outdoor crown with 249.0 points to out-pace second-place Roanoke (137.0) and third place Washington and Lee (105.0). The Generals hoisted their second straight women's trophy with 258.0 points to top second-place Lynchburg (151.5) and third-place Bridgewater (139.0).
Roanoke finishing second in the men's ranks marks the first program not named Lynchburg or Washington and Lee to place first or second in the men's standings since Bridgewater won the championship in 2019.
The coaches will convene later this week to determine the ODAC athletes of the meet in addition to finalizing the All-ODAC Track & Field Teams. Two awards were announced on Saturday night. General distance runner Keaton Rush claimed the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award for men's outdoor track & field, while teammate Camille Gillum and Roanoke's Ophelia Ladner shared the women's honor.
Listed below is a full list of ODAC event champions plus notation of the team standings as well as all seven championship records that were reset over the past two days.
