LA CROSSE, Wis. — University of Lynchburg sophomore Alex Jordan reset the ODAC record in the men's 10,000-meter run on the way to finishing fourth overall and earning First Team All-American honors to highlight the ODAC's showing on the first day of competition at the Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.
Jordan was one of two ODAC competitors in the men's 10K along with previous conference record-holder Keaton Rush from Washington and Lee University. Rush finished 17th at 30:25.47, one spot off All-American consideration. Jordan reset Rush's benchmark (29:36.78) in the event set earlier this season with a time of 20:19.10.
Five league stars were in action on day one with three earning All-American honors. WLU women's distance runner Olivia Warr finished ninth in the 10K with a time of 34:58.88, just 5.32 seconds off her own conference record. Warr earned USTFCCCA All-America Second Team honors.
Roanoke College hurdler Ophelia Ladner secured the same distinction in the women's 400-meter hurdles. She placed 10th overall in the preliminaries, one spot shy of qualifying for the event's final race on Saturday. Ladner's time of 1:01.56 was 0.01 seconds off matching her own ODAC record.
Lynchburg multi-event standout Micah Leech competed in the first five events of the decathlon. He is currently 11th in the event's standings with 3,507 points, just 333 behind leader Gabe Giannini from Brockport State.
Competition at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse continues on Friday and Saturday.
