ODAC Women's Tennis Report: Report 18

  • ALLIE MURRELL / HALEY STOLTZ | WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
    Murrell, a sophomore from Florence, S.C., and Stoltz, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., went 1-1 last week as nationally 14th-ranked closed the regular season against top-ranked competition. In a 7-0 loss at No. 7 Babson on Thursday, Murrell and Stoltz posted a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Sarai Dorismond and Han Wang, who are ranked 21st in Division III. The Generals duo fell in their next match, a 6-2 decision to Melanie Woodbury and Claudia Grove in Washington and Lee's 4-3 win at No. 13 Tufts University. These were the first two matches of the season for Murrell and Stoltz paired together.

  • LAUREN LONG | WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
    Long, a senior from Carmel, Ind., closed the regular season with a 1-1 showing against a pair of nationally ranked single opponents in the No. 14 Generals 1-1 week in Massachusetts. In a 7-0 loss at No. 7 Babson, Long squared off with Matia Cristiani, the top-ranked player in Division III. Cristiani won, 6-1, 7-5. Long then helped Washington and Lee down No. 13 Tufts with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lucy Mitchell, the 43rd-ranked player in the country. Long enters the ODAC Tournament as the 10th-ranked player in the Atlantic South Region. She is 10-3 in all singles matches.
