ODAC Golfers Finish Strong at Division III Men's Championship

Two Teams in Top-13, Three Players in Top-5

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. --- ODAC golfers were ever-present on the leaderboards over the past four days at the Division III Men's Golf Championship, including the final standings following 72 holes of competition on the El Campeon and Las Colinas courses at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Both Washington and Lee University and Guilford College finished above their national rankings entering the event with the eighth-ranked Generals tying for sixth at 7-over 1155 (290-280-290-295) and the No. 31 Quakers chiming in at 31-over 1179 (299-295-288-297). This is the fifth straight year that WLU has placed inside the top-10 on the national stage.

Illinois Wesleyan University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tied atop the team table at 13-under 1135. CMS claimed the national championship in a playoff over IWU.

Three ODAC players finished in the top-five led by top-ranked Jonathan McEwen from Washington and Lee as the runner-up at 9-under 278 (71-70-68-69). He was one of only a few players with three rounds under par for the tournament. McEwen finished one stroke back of individual medalist Sebi Aliaga from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

WLU's Tim Kaufman closed his experience with a tie for third at 7-under 280 (73-65-70-72) along with Kenyon College's Adrian Jordan.

Alan Van Asch, an individual qualifier from the University of Lynchburg, tied for fifth with Southern Virginia University's Nikko Taggart at 6-under 281 (71-67-70-73).

Statistically, McEwen led all players in par-3 scoring (-5, 2.69), while Kaufman led the field in par-5 scoring (-11, 4.27). Van Asch was tied for second in par-4 scoring (-2, 3.95). Kaufman also topped the charts in birdies (22), three more than Taggart and Aurora University's Caleb Negley.
