ETHAN MAPSTONE | ROANOKE | LINEBACKER
Mapstone, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., helped Roanoke's defense dominate Gallaudet University in the Maroons' 52-0 triumph over the Bison in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon. Mapstone led RC with six total tackles including three solo stops. He was also in on a pair of stops behind the line of scrimmage. He helped the Maroons' defense allow just 176 yards from scrimmage including minus-five on the ground. Roanoke's shutout marks the first time the Maroons have kept an opponent scoreless in a varsity game since the return of the program. RC's defense has not allowed any points in the past two games and only seven all year on a third-quarter touchdown by Virginia University-Lynchburg in their season-opener. For the season, Mapstone has made 16 total tackles including 13 solo stops. His TFLs at GU were his first of the season.

LINWOOD JOHNSON | ROANOKE | QUARTERBACK
Johnson, a junior from Mechanicsville, Va., entered his name in the ODAC record book with a stellar outing in Roanoke's 52-0 triumph over Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon. Johnson, who played just the first half against the Bison, completed 19-of-20 passes for third-highest single-game completion percentage (min. 15 attempts) in ODAC history. His 95.5-percent effort trails only the 17-of-17 showing by former Randolph-Macon College signal-caller Drew Campanale versus Bridgewater in 2022 and the 21-of-22 outing by 2025 ODAC Rookie of the Year Mekhi Brown for Shenandoah University against Gallaudet last season. Johnson threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. He also registered a 1-yard touchdown run to claim at least a portion of responsibility on each of the Maroons' first five touchdowns on their first five possessions of the game. Johnson and K.J. Bratton opened the day's scoring with a 16-yard TD play. The second touchdown covered 89 yards with receiver Khamari Garner reaching paydirt. Johnson and Cole Chizuk connected a 42-yard pass-and-catch for Roanoke's third touchdown of the first quarter. Ethan Graves caught the last of Johnson's scoring throws, completing a 20-yard receiving TD. For the season, Johnson is 43-of-60 passing for an ODAC second-best 71.7 completion percentage. He has thrown for 594 yards and nine touchdowns against just two interceptions. He has also run for 60 yards and three touchdowns.

ETHAN CYR | ROANOKE | PLACEKICKER
Cyr, a junior from Stuarts Draft, Va., accounted for 10 points in helping Roanoke post a 52-0 shutout of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon. Cyr was 7-for-7 on his PAT kicks to make him 15-of-16 on the season. Midway through the fourth quarter at GU, Cyr closed the game's scoring with a 46-yard field goal. That kick is the longest in the ODAC this season by 11 yards and the longest for the Maroons' since the return of football in 2024. Cyr is now 2-for-2 on field goals this season and his 15 PATs are the most by any league kicker.

• GENERAL NOTES
  • Five of the ODAC's eight teams were idle in Week 4 on their scheduled bye weeks.
  • All three games this week featured shutouts with Roanoke defeating Gallaudet, 52-0, while Bridgewater dropped a 45-0 outcome at Centre College and Guilford lost to Brevard College, 59-0.
  • The 52 points scored by Roanoke are the Maroons' most in a game since the return of football to the Salem-based campus in 2024.
  • Roanoke is the lone unbeaten program remaining in the conference table at 3-0 with five squads – Averett, Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon, Shenandoah, and Washington and Lee – at 2-1 entering ODAC play for the remainder of the season.
• OFFENSE
  • Bridgewater's passing offense racked up 240 yards, but the Eagles were held to minus-25 yards on the ground; receiver Jalin Quintanilla led with 4 catches for 57 yards; quarterbacks Parker Burke and Brock Miles combined for the 240 passing yards.
  • Guilford was limited to just 173 yards of total offense and was hampered by 4 turnovers against the Tornados; receiver Shane Shapiro led all players with 8 catches for 93 yards, more than half of GC's yards from scrimmage; running back Evan Sullivan carried the ball 13 times for 46 yards.
  • Roanoke's offense racked up 421 yards of total offense at 7.5 yards per play and did not commit a turnover at Gallaudet; quarterback Linwood Johnson completed 19-of-20 passes – 95.5% is 3rd-best in ODAC history – for 275 yards and 4 TDs to 4 different receivers – Khamari Garner (4 for 111), Cole Chizuk (2 for 44), Ethan Graves (5 for 44), KJ Bratton (2 for 33); Johnson also posted a 1-yard TD run, while Trell Creasy added 43 yards and a score on 13 carries.
• DEFENSE
  • Bridgewater linebacker Oscar Whitely (6 solo) and defensive back Joey Strong (8 solo) led with 10 tackles each with Whitely adding 2.0 TFLs; Whitely has reached double figures in two straight games; defensive back Kyle Galloway made 8 tackles (7 solo).
  • Guilford linebacker Owen Whelan led all players with 16 tackles (4 solo); defensive back Dwight Drew, Jr.  registered his first collegiate interception.
  • Roanoke registered its first full shutout since the return of football in 2024 on Saturday; the Maroons' defense has not allowed any points since Virginia University-Lynchburg scored a TD with 11:45 left in the third quarter, marking a scoreless steak of 146:45 of scoreboard time; linebacker Ethan Mapstone led with 6 tackles (3 solo) including 1.0 for a loss; defensive linemen Davon Tolson, Jr. and Parker Hardy notched 1.0 quarterback sacks each while linebacker Briggs Smithson intercepted the first pass of his collegiate career.

  • Bridgewater return man Tommy Nelson returned 4 kickoffs for 95 yards (23.8/ret.) with a long of 39 yards.
  • Guilford return man Jamarcus Hunter returned 3 kickoffs for 51 yards (17.0/ret.) with a long of 25 yards.
  • Roanoke kicker Ethan Cyr racked up 10 points, going 7-for-7 on PATs and booting a 46-yard field goal as the longest made FG in the ODAC this season.
