ODAC Golf Report: Fall - Week 4

Play for ODAC golfers ticked up my one tournament with one men's event and a pair of women's outings on the docket in Week 4 of the fall season.

MEN'S GOLF - One Tournament

  • Cardinal Fall Classic (Results): Shenandoah carried the ODAC banner at the Cardinal Fall  Classic hosted by Catholic University at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown, Md. The Hornets entered a “B” team plus a few individuals. The team leaderboard is not yet accurately available, but each of the golfers scores are in place. Davis Hutchins, playing as an individual, finished seventh to lead SU's eight-person crew.


WOMEN'S GOLF - Two Events

  • Anita Hobson Invitational (Results): Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth served as host of the Anita Hobson Invitational hosted by Batten. The Marlins led the 9-team field at 78-over 654. Fellow ODAC squads in the 8-school allotment included Shenandoah (4th), Bridgewater (5th), and Roanoke (7th). BATN's Juliette Coffey topped the 50-player leaderboard at 8-over 152.
  • The Tartan Invitational (Results): A total of 18 teams featuring several ranked programs comprised a strong field at the annual Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pa. Three ODAC squads competed in Randolph-Macon in ninth place, Washington and Lee in 11th position, and Lynchburg in the No. 17 spot. RMC's Lilly Hall was the top ODAC finisher in the strong 98-player field with a 54-hole total of 5-over 221 to place 22nd overall.
  • LILLY HALL | RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE
    Hall, a junior from Yorktown, Va., was the top ODAC player at the well-attended The Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pa. Hall placed 22nd overall at 5-over 221 following 54-holes of competition on the par 72 layout set to 5,633 yards. Hall opened with a 4-over 76 that included three birdies with her first coming on the par-4 second hole, which served as her opening hole for the first two rounds. Hall notched five more birdies in round two on the way to a 3-over 75. She went under-par to close the tournament, firing a 2-under 70 that included three birdies against just one bogey. Hall's 11 birdies tied for the eighth-most in the tournament.

    Randolph-Macon slotted ninth in a field of 18 teams that included several nationally-ranked squads including the Yellow Jackets, who are tied for 12th, along with No. 10 Washington and Lee. RMC finished at 39-over 899 (301-302-296). Nationally top-ranked Emory University won at 18-under 846.

  • DAVIS HUTCHINS | SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY
    Hutchins, a sophomore from Carmel, Ind., registered his first collegiate top-10 finishing playing as an individual at the Cardinal Fall Classic hosted by Catholic University at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown, Md. Hutchins finished seventh overall at 6-over 150 following 36-holes of play on the par 72 layout set to 6,748 yards. Hutchins opened with a 2-over 74 that included a pair of birdies. He notched one more birdie over his closing 18 holes on the way to a 4-over 76. Hutchins ranked second in the 57-player field in pars (24) and tied for fifth in par-3 scoring (3.25, +2).
