BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Washington and Lee University is back on top of the ODAC cross country world following the Generals titles following both the men's and women's races at the 2025 ODAC Cross Country Championships hosted on the campus of Bridgewater College. WLU previous donned both crowns for five straight seasons from 2015 through 2019.
The Generals' women's program, ranked 14th in Division III by the USTFCCCA, won by 47 points with their 21 markers eclipsing the 68 points accumulated by the University of Lynchburg. Shenandoah University chimed in third with 89 points. WLU has now won an ODAC-high 21 league championships including each of the past two seasons.
The final table was a bit tighter on the men's side of the ledger with the No. 18 Generals posting a 27 points, a half-dozen ahead of No. 23 Lynchburg. Roanoke College finished third with 72 tallies. WLU is now second in league history with 15 men's crowns, trailing only Lynchburg's 21 titles.
Washington and Lee runners finished first and second in both races with all four runners eclipsing the previous course records. Women's back-to-back champion Olivia Warr stopped the watches on the six-kilometer course at 21:39.8 with teammate Lydia Harvey finishing second at 22:06.4. Both times eclipsed the previous course record of 22:21.9 set by former EMU star Hannah Chappell-Dick in 2015. In the men's competition, WLU's Sam Daunt claimed gold on the eight-kilometer course at 25:36.9, just 0.2 seconds ahead of fellow General Robert Cooper at 25:37.1. The previous course record of 25:42.6 was also established in 2015 by former Roanoke standout Harrison Toney.
The ODAC Rookie of the Meet awards were earned by Bridgewater's Olivia Morra and Roanoke's Nathaniel Orban. Morra finished third in the women's competition at 22:39.4, while Orban crossed the line sixth at 25:53.3. With both finishing in the top-seven of their respective races, they also earned All-ODAC First Team honors. The same could be said of WLU's Harvey and Keaton Rush, who were named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athletes of the Year by the league's athletic communications personnel. As mentioned early, Harvey finished second in the women's race, while Rush placed fifth in the men's championship.
Below is the full slate of All-ODAC awards, which features an All-ODAC Third Team for the first time. Runners that finished seventh or better receive All-ODAC First Team laurels, while finishers 8-14 garner All-ODAC Second Team distinction. Runners placing 15-21 received All-ODAC Third Team recognition.
