FOREST, Va. --- The ODAC's nationally-ranked outfits from
Hampden-Sydney College and the
University of Lynchburg each garnered eight all-conference team spots with fellow Division III tournament qualifier
Washington and Lee University earning six selections to headline the 2025 All-ODAC Men's Soccer Awards.
Three stars on the 13th-ranked Hornets' roster received special individual recognition with standouts from
Bridgewater College claiming the remaining two. Eagles forward
Trey Widrick secured ODAC Offensive Player of the Year distinction, while his mentor
Ryan Bennison was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year by his peers. Lynchburg center back
Benjamin Velasquez is now a three-time winner of the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year plaque. Hornets' midfielder
Matthew Viscuso collected ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while teammate and outside back
Reid Rouse was named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's athletic communications personnel.
A total of 15 players of the 39 honored on this season's All-ODAC squads appeared on a 2024 all-conference list. That includes 10 members of the 2025 All-ODAC First Team. Velasquez and Lynchburg keeper
Thomas Viscuso repeat as first team selections along with
Virginia Wesleyan University center back
Aaron Deans. Bridgewater forward
Riley Queen and Lynchburg back
William Casey moved up from the 2024 All-ODAC Second Team, while five players -- H-SC forward
Walker Stebbings, VWU forward
Zach Bittler, and WLU midfielders
Willy Hall and
Matthew Jenkins plus Generals center back
Spencer Furman -- made the jump from last year's All-ODAC Third Team.
Three players on the second team earned plaudits for a second straight year.
Roanoke College midfielder
Ryan Pidgeon and VWU defender
Josh Nevins both repeated as second team picks, while WLU keeper
Will Joseph stepped up from last year's third team.
The final two repeat honorees appear on the 2025 third team. Those players are H-SC forward
Charlie Letson and VWU midfielder
Gio Zizza, who appeared on last year's second and third teams, respectively.
Widrick led the ODAC in both points (28) and goals (11) while tying for second with three players in assists (6). Four of his tallies were credited as game-winners. During the middle of the ODAC season, Widrick registered 10 goals and 23 points over an eight-game stretch, notching at least one goal in seven of those outings.
Bennison completed his 15th season guiding the Eagles program. The Eagles won 11 games this year, tying for second-most in program history. They earned the No. 4 seed in the ODAC tournament, far surpassing their eighth-place assignment in the conference preseason poll. This is Bennison's first ODAC top-coaching award. He owns a 113-122-30 (.483) career record.
Velasquez is a three-time All-ODAC First Team center back and now owns three of the four ODAC Defensive Player of the Year plaques granted since the award was created in 2022. He spearheads a Lynchburg defense that has allowed just 10 goals for a 0.50 per-game average entering the NCAA postseason. Velasquez has scored once with one assist this year, helping the Hornets on both ends of the field to a lofty +2.50 goal margin per game.
Matthew Viscuso, younger brother of two-time first team keeper Thomas, wasted no time carving his own path with an All-ODAC Second Team nod in addition to the top-rookie award. Matthew has played in 20 games with 18 starts as a key cog in the Hornets' engine room. In addition to strong linking play, he has contributed seven points on two goals and three assists to Lynchburg's attack.
Rouse shines both on and off the pitch for Lynchburg. The Hornets' outside back locks down the right-side of the field, having started all 20 games entering the Division III postseason. In addition to helping Lynchburg limit opponents to just three goals in conference play, Rouse added an assist to the offense. In the classroom, the senior Greensboro-native maintains a 4.0 grade point average as he finalizes his degree in business administration and financial economics. He is President of the Student Managed Investment Fund, a program with which he has been associated since 2023. He has also worked two separate internships at Spider Management Company and Ameriprise Financial Services.
