LYNCHBURG, Va. --- A single goal representing one of just three shots on-target all afternoon marked the only difference between Dickinson College and the University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon with the visting Red Devils advancing to the Division III Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals following a 1-0 victory over the host Hornets on Shellenberger Field.
The game's lone tally came in the 25th minute off a corner kick. Jeremy Sallade used a left-footed in-swinger to put chaos into motion with his ball falling to Tim Omoniwa at the back post. He did not know much about his pass to Saul Iwowo, but it did not keep the Red Devils' No. 11 jersey from passing the ball into the net for what would turn out to be the game's lone goal.
Iwowo had two the game's three shots on-goal with Lynchburg's
Izaack Cruz accounting for the lone on-target effort for the Hornets.
Lynchburg (19-2-2) one win shy of the program's second-ever 20-win campaign. The Hornets' 19 victories in 2025 mark the second-highest total for the men's squad with only their national runner-up outfit from 2010 (20-5-1) able to boast more wins.
Dickinson (16-0-7) moves on to face Emory University (16-1-3), which defeated Rowan University in Saturday's second game in the Hill City. The winner on Sunday moves on to the Division III Men's Soccer Championship semifinals at Donald J. Kerr Stadium on the campus of Roanoke College. The semifinals are set for Friday, December 5 in Salem.
