RMC Names Hearn Director of Golf

Set to Lead Both Yellow Jackets Program After Previously Serving as Women's Head Coach

ASHLAND, Va. --- Randolph-Macon College Director of Athletics Jeff Burns has announced the promotion of Bryan Hearn as the new Director of Golf, where he will oversee the Yellow Jackets' men's and women's golf programs. Hearn steps into the role following the departure of Jay Albaugh, who is stepping down after a four year stint at Randolph-Macon College coaching the men's golf program.

"We are fortunate to have someone with Bryan's background and proven history of success on staff and willing to take on the Director of Golf position.  We have seen what he has done to recruit and develop a nationally ranked women's golf program and we look forward to great success on the men's side," said Burns.

Hearn has served as the head coach of the Randolph-Macon women's golf team since 2021-22, where he has transformed the program into one of the fastest rising program's in Division III. Under his leadership, the women's team has climbed the ranks from #136 to #12, producing multiple program records, All-Conference, All-Region and All-America accolades including 3 consecutive ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, ODAC Player of the Year, 3 Academic All Americans and 3 WGCA All-Americans. The program also earned its first bid to the NCAA National Championship during Hearn's tenure. The Yellow Jackets have become a consistent contender in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and are now recognized as one of the most competitive programs in the Nation.

"I want to thank Athletic Director, Jeff Burns for this opportunity and I am honored to take the helm as the Director of Golf and look forward to the continued growth of our golf programs," said Hearn.

Before joining Randolph-Macon, Hearn held coaching roles with both men's and women's programs at the collegiate level.

From 2016-19, Hearn was head men's and women's golf coach at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. The Colonels were nationally-ranked on both sides, with the men at No. 23 and the women at No. 17. Hearn mentored eight all-conference golfers and a pair of All-Americans. Five of his players were Academic All-Americans. Hearn had seven individual medalists on the women's team and three on the men's team.

Hearn was also the head men's golf coach at Virginia Wesleyan University from 2012-16. He saw the Marlins' Golfstat ranking rise from No. 198 to No. 32 in four years. He coached six individual medalists, including 2016 NCAA Division III Individual National Champion Evan Cox. Hearn was named 2016 ODAC Jack Jensen Coach of the Year.
