MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- In light of his historic Saturday evening showing for Guilford College football's Shane Shapiro (Jacksonville, N.C.), he received more recognition on Tuesday, being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, as announced by the website. (LINK)
 
Registering a performance that already netted him an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week nod by racking up 14 catches and 210 yards with two scores, the recognition is very well-earned. He posted the second-highest receptions total in Division-III football on the young season, with 14, the third-most in the nation last week. His yardage mark is the third-highest in the nation so far overall and was also the third-highest mark nationally at 210. Finally, only four players hauled in more touchdown catches during week two.
 
Shapiro becomes the first Guilford football player to be recognized on the D3football.com Team of the Week since his teammate, Jaylen Moore (Durham, N.C.) was honored following week two in 2023. He is the first offensive player GC has placed on the squad since tight end Evan Carnes '20 after week 10 in 2019.
