MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Shenandoah University senior linebacker Matt Conroy has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for Week Two after recording 17 tackles in the Hornets' 29-28 win over Geneva College (Pa.).
Conroy, who has now posted four career games with 17 or more tackles, sits just 33 stops shy of breaking the program's all-time tackles record. That mark of 352 is currently held by former SU linebacker Ben Burgan.
In Saturday's victory over the Golden Tornadoes, Conroy was especially dominant in the second quarter, registering eight tackles in the frame, including five on Geneva's opening drive of the period.
This is the second D3football.com Team of the Week honor of Conroy's career. He first earned the national recognition in Week Four of the 2024 season after a 13-tackle performance that included his first career sack and a fumble recovery in a win over Juniata.
With Conroy's selection, Shenandoah now has 39 D3football.com Team of the Week honorees in program history. He joins Burgan, Mason Caldwell, Keyshawn Wilder, and Rico Wallace as the only Hornets to earn the distinction multiple times.
Shenandoah (2-0) opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference play this Saturday at Hampden-Sydney College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
