ODAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 1

Seven of the ODAC's women's soccer sponsor schools earned at least one win to start the 2025 season over the weekend. Bridgewater, Guilford, and Virginia Wesleyan are all 2-0, while Sweet Briar won its first outing. Averett and Lynchburg both won a game and tied another, while nationally 13th-ranked Washington and Lee went 1-1.

  • ERINN LOCKARD | BRIDGEWATER | GK
Lockard, a first-year from Vienna, Va., made her collegiate debut against nationally 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University and more than held her own in helping Bridgewater collect the first of two clean sheets on the week. Lockard and the Eagles' defense was consistently under pressure with the Tartans unleashing 23 shots at BC's goal. All five on frame were turned away by Lockard as she collected her first win and shutout in her first collegiate game. In a 2-0 victory over Marietta College (Ohio) on Saturday, Lockard played the opening 79:55 and made one save with five total shots fired at her.

  • ISOBEL EVANS | AVERETT | F/W
Evans, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., played a part in four of Averett's five goals to help the Cougars open the season unbeaten over two outings. In a 2-0 win over Pfeiffer University on Friday, Evans needed just 2:49 to score AU's first goal of the season. She then assisted Gianna Minafo on the Cougars' second tally in the 49th minute. In a 3-3 draw with Salem College, Evans helped make it 2-0 AU by assisting Isabella Kelly on her 12th minute goal. With the game tied, 2-2, in the 49th minute, Evans gave Averett a 3-2 edge before a penalty kick for Salem in the 69th minute resulted in a final tied scoreline.

    • AU keeper Krista Hinebaugh made 11 stops in the Cougars 1-1 week, while Lynchburg's Kate Shepherd turned away 9 shots in the Hornets 1-0-1 opening set. WLU keeper Kate McEnroe made the first two starts of her career and made 12 total saves in the Generals 1-1 showing.
    • Midfielder Katherine King was on the spot with the game's lone goal in Bridgewater's win over #16 Carnegie Mellon.
    • Guilford defensive anchor Kylee Berry helped the Quakers record two clean sheets and came forward to score once and dish out an assist in a win (7-0) over Carolina University. Midfield teammate Ainsley Yates scored once in a win (2-0) over Mary Baldwin and matched Berry's line against CU.
    • Lynchburg's Makayla Hargrove, Roanoke's Rebecca Carr, and Sweet Briar's Emily Michel each opened their goal scoring accounts with one goal apiece.
    • Virginia Wesleyan's Zyon Ferguson helped VWU shutout Saint Benedict (3-0) and US Merchant Marine Academy (4-0) while also scoring the first goal against USMMA. Midfielder teammate Alexis Manfredi scored once in each outing.
    • Washington and Lee forward Helen Otteni scored once and dished out an assist in a 3-0 win at York (Pa.) to open the season.
