ODAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 4

ODAC women's soccer completed its final week of full non-conference play, although one outing featured a pair of league squads in a non-conference contest. Hollins, Sweet Briar, and Virginia Wesleyan each won twice. Bridgewater leads the league in wins at 6-1-0, while VWU has won five times at 5-1-1. Washington and Lee remains ranked by the United Soccer Coaches at #15, with the Generals 1-1 draw with #3 Christopher Newport likely to impact that ranking positively.

  • BRYN BISSINGER | WASHINGTON AND LEE | CENTERBACK
Bissinger, a senior from Greenville, S.C., helped nationally 15th-ranked Washington and Lee on both ends of the field in a 1-1 draw with third-ranked Christopher Newport University. Bissinger, the reigning ODAC Defensive Player of the Year, anchored a defense that limited the Captains to just 10 total shots including four in the second half. Offensively, Bissinger showed her free kick prowess as she found the head of reigning ODAC Player of the Year Sarah Zimmerman for the game-tying goal in the 13th minute, less than one minute after CNU scored its goal.

  • SADIE SWART | SWEET BRIAR | MIDFIELDER
Swart, a first-year from Bowie, Md., was on the mark for 12 points in Sweet Briar's home-and-home showdowns with Trinity Washington University, which were both won by the Vixens with a pair of 10-0 results. During the midweek, Swart notched her first career assist as she became the first Sweet Briar soccer player since 2023 to post three goals in a game. On the weekend, Swart upped the ante, posting six more points with one goal and four assists in the Vixens road win. For the season, Swart has registered an ODAC-best five assists with four goals, the latter tying for second with several players in the conference.

    • Bridgewater keeper Erinn Lockard made two saves and forward Laura Narby scored twice in the Eagles 3-1 win at Southern Virginia.
    • Guilford keeper Madison Motto made a career-best three saves and forward Ashlyn Miller notched two assists in a 3-0 win at Averett in a non-conference game.
    • Hollins forward Izzy Workman scored three times in a 10-0 win over Trinity (D.C.) and once in a 7-0 victory over Patrick Henry, while defender Ava Rodgers registered an assist in the latter contest. HU has won two straight games since starting 2024 at 2-0.
    • Randolph-Macon defender Maddie Stubblefield anchored a Yellow Jackets defense that allowed just 15 shots over two games, while forward Ally Spangler scored RMC's goal in a 1-1 draw with Stevenson and handed out the assist on the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Salisbury.
    • Virginia Wesleyan midfielder Janessa Lowe scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Salisbury.
    • Washington and Lee midfielder Sarah Zimmerman headed home 15th-ranked Washington and Lee's goal in a 1-1 draw with #3 Christopher Newport.
