ODAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 3

ODAC women's soccer teams remained in full non-conference mode through the third weekend of the season. Conference teams competed in 20 overall games including Randolph-Macon and Roanoke squaring off in a non-league tilt outside of their conference framework. ODAC squads went 9-9-3 (.500) with Bridgewater winning twice to improve to 5-1-0, the most wins in the ODAC. Lynchburg at 4-0-1 and Guilford at 3-0-1 are the only unbeaten teams remaining in the conference table. Nationally 15th-ranked Washington and Lee is 4-2-0, while Roanoke (3-2-1) and Virginia Wesleyan (3-1-1) have each won three games. Overall, the ODAC is 30-23-9 (.556) in non-league outings.

  • ERINN LOCKARD | BRIDGEWATER | GK
Lockard, a first-year from Vienna, Va., picks up her second ODAC weekly honor of the season after allowing just one goal with eight saves to help Bridgewater improve to 5-1 with two more victories last week. Lockard faced 17 total shots and allowed just one goal from the University of Mary Washington attack, but she made a half-dozen saves to allow the Eagles offense to fire away late on the way to a 3-1 victory. On the week, Lockard put in her second full shift and registered a clean sheet for the third time this season with two saves in a 1-0 triumph over Salisbury University. For the season, Lockard is fourth in the ODAC in goals against average (.510) and save percentage (.900) on 27 stops. Her three shutouts are the most in the conference.

  • LAURA NARBY | BRIDGEWATER | FORWARD
Narby, a junior from Huntington, Va., picks up her first ODAC weekly award of the season after scoring three times – two from distance – to help lead Bridgewater to a pair of non-conference home wins. The Eagles are now 5-1 with the most wins in the ODAC so far this year. In a 3-1 win over the University of Mary Washington, it was Narby that scored the tying goal in the 78th minute with a greater than 30-yard blast beyond UMW's keeper. Just five minutes later, she headed home a service from Lyric Birkley to give BC a lead it would not relinquish. On Saturday, Narby was the only goal scorer as her tally in the 52nd minute off a dish from Sophia Phillips catapulted the Eagles to a 1-0 triumph over Salisbury University. For the season, Narby is tied for second in the ODAC in both points (6) and goals scored (3).

    • Averett goalkeeper Tiia Chrons made 30 saves over two losses last week. She made 24 saves while facing 45 total shots in a 1-0 loss to Brevard.
    • Guilford goalkeeper Madison Motto made a pair of saves and forward Ashlyn Miller scored the game's first goal in a 2-0 win at Meredith.
    • Lynchburg midfielder Lauren Orner registered a brace in the Hornets 4-1 win at Maryville (Tenn.).
    • Randolph winger Madison Booker scored the WildCats goal in a 2-1 loss at N.C. Wesleyan and tallied both goals in a 2-0 win over Regent University.
    • Randolph-Macon goalkeeper Erin Morris started in her first game of the season, a 2-0 win with seven saves against St. Mary's (Md.). Forward Ally Spangler scored one of those goals and assisted on the other.
    • Roanoke keeper Grace Suchy made five saves in a 1-1 draw with Randolph-Macon in a non-conference tilt and was uncalled upon in 77 minutes of a 3-0 win at Greensboro. Midfielder Irene Ordorff assisted on RC's goal against RMC and scored once versus the Pride.
    • Shenandoah keeper Molly Donaldson twice put in 45-minute shifts in SU's 2-0 week with two saves in each contest. Forward Alexandra Sarrach scored twice and dished out an assist in a 4-0 win over Southern Virginia.
    • Washington and Lee centerback Bryn Bissinger, the reigning ODAC Defensive Player of the Year, helped WLU to a 1-1 week with a 1-0 clean sheet over Southern Virginia in which she buried a free kick from 30-yards out for the nationally 15th-ranked Generals goal.
