WLU's Schleusner Collects Two National Weekly Honors

D3hoops.com and USBWA Recognize All-American Forward

FOREST, Va. --- Mary Schleusner's awards room may need a second level before the end of her senior season later this winter. Washington and Lee University's four-time All-American forward was recognized by both D3hoops.com and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) with weekly honors.

Schleusner is now a 10-time honoree on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, pairing two honors this season with four in 2024-25, three in 2023-24, and once in 2022-23. Her freshman year laurel marked the program's first appointment to the team of the week.

The USBWA has recognized Schleusner seven times as the Division III women's basketball national player of the week. This is her second honor this season and joins three awards in 2024-25 and two in 2023-24.

Schleusner, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., continued her trek towards rare record book recognition with a stellar week on both ends of the floor in No. 6 Washington and Lee's 2-0 week in ODAC play. The Generals are now 13-0 on the season, easily ranking as the best start in program history and sitting one win shy of tying the Generals' 14-game school-record winning streak from the 2023-24 campaign.

Schleusner barely put a wrong foot forward in WLU's 66-43 victory at Randolph on Wednesday. She went 9-of-13 from the field and buried all four of her foul shots on the way to 22 points in just 19 minutes of action. She pulled down 12 rebounds (4 offensive) and handed out four assists to go with a blocked shot. On Saturday in an eagerly anticipated matchup of nationally-ranked foes, Schleusner notched a season-high 36 points with 17 rebounds (4 offensive) in a 69-52 triumph over No. 22 Shenandoah. She was 15-of-26 from the field and 6-of-8 from the line. She tacked on two assists, a steal, and two blocked shots. For the season, Schleusner leads the ODAC in scoring (20.8), rebounding (16.0), and blocked shots (30). She is fifth in assist to turnover ratio (1.4), seventh in field goal shooting (.495, 101-of-204), eighth in assists (41), and 14th in steals (27). Schleusner's 11 double-doubles are tied for third in Division III and the ODAC. She is now just 55 rebounds shy of the Division III career record, which is held by former Denison University standout Jordan Holmes (2014-17) at 1,711. She has scored 2,076 career points, fifth-most in ODAC history.
