  • JAREN MITCHELL | SHENANDOAH | SAFETY
Mitchell, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., caused two turnovers as he helped Shenandoah post a 30-24 home victory over Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon. Mitchell posted five tackles (2 solo) and broke up a pass while intercepting two others and sprinting to 89 total return yards. His first takeaway came in the first quarter. After Roanoke had intercepted an SU pass and approached midfield, Mitchell played center field perfectly as he hauled in an underthrown deep pass at the SU 30-yard line. He sprinted the other way 59 yards, eventually weaving and powering his way to the Maroons' 11-yard line that resulted in Hornets' field goal for the first points of the game. Mitchell's second interception both kept a potential touchdown off the board and eventually led to Shenandoah's final TD in the fourth quarter. With RC at the SU 24-yard line, Mitchell read the route of a receiver up the seam and stretched to intercept the pass at the 6-yard line. He sprinted 30 yards to the SU 36-yard line to set up an eventual 10-play scoring drive to put the Hornets on 30 points with 8:59 to play in regulation. For the season, Mitchell has registered 42 tackles including 23 solo stops. His four interceptions lead the ODAC with his six total passes defended ranking second in the league.

  • PARKER BURKE | BRIDGEWATER | QUARTERBACK
Burke, a sophomore from Waxhaw, N.C., helped lead Bridgewater to a come-from-behind last-second victory over Washington and Lee in Bridgewater on Saturday. Burke went 25-of-33 (78.8%) passing for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His first TD throw came just before halftime following an interception and 61-yard return by defensive lineman Baylor Jones to the WLU 1-yard line. Burke connected with Brandon Anderson on a short TD pass to send the two teams to the locker room at 14-all. In the fourth quarter, Burke came up with several big plays on the Eagles' game winning drive. He scrambled for 12 yards on a 4-and-10 play to keep the drive alive with 1:23 to play. That was the first of three 4th-down conversions, the last of which was a 21-yard touchdown pass to as time expired with Burke putting the ball high where only his receiver, Nick Barahona, could high-point it and pull it in. Burke then completed a two-point pass to Caeden Walters at the near-side pylon for the deciding points in the Eagles' 22-21 win. For the season, Burke is 90-of-153 (58.8%) passing for 705 yards and five touchdowns. He has not thrown an interception this season.

  • AIDEN GREFE | BRIDGEWATER | PUNTER
Grefe, a senior from Elkton, Va., was strong with his legs in multiple ways to help Bridgewater post a 22-21 come-from-behind last-second victory over Washington and Lee on Saturday in Bridgewater. Grefe was called upon to punt five times against the Generals, but his third appearance in punt formation turned into a fake. On 4th-and-6 from the BC 34-yard line, Grefe caught the Generals' punt defense completely unaware when he sprinted straight up the middle and then veered left towards the near sideline before stepping out of bounds at the WLU 32-yard line untouched for a 34-yard run. That made Grefe the Eagles' rushing leader on the day. Grefe, who also serves as Bridgewater's holder on PATs and field goals, punted four times for a 37.8 average. He booted a fourth-quarter kick 57 yards to help flip the field for BC's defense. For the season, Grefe has punted 36 times for a 38.0 average with league-high 18 fair catches, four downed inside the 20-yard line, and a long of 59 yards. The 18 fair caught punts are the most in the league by 13 over the next closest ODAC punter.

    • GENERAL NOTES
      • Hampden-Sydney is in the pole position for the ODAC title as the only unbeaten (3-0) left in conference play.
      • H-SC scored 60 points for the third time in the last two seasons with two of those efforts coming against Guilford.
      • While H-SC controls its own path atop the league table, the Tigers are titled followed by four teams at 2-1 in ODAC play – Bridgewater (2-4), Randolph-Macon (4-2), Shenandoah (4-2), and Washington and Lee (4-2) – with the potential for a multi-team push for the conference hardware with four games to play.
