ODAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 7

Every ODAC indoor program was in action over the past week with the majority of the conference at Roanoke's Joe LaRocco Invitational. Still, league athletes competed five meets overall. For the third time this season, the men's 5K record was reset. Lynchburg's Alex Jordan improved upon his own league standard, resetting the record for the second time in three weeks. Washington and Lee's Keaton Rush was the first athlete to take the record away from former Lynchburg national cross country champion Ricky Flynn.

  • Roanoke hosted its annual Joe LaRocco Invitational that included athletes from Averett, Bridgewater, EMU, Guilford, Hampden-Sydney, Hollins, Lynchburg, Randolph, Shenandoah, Sweet Briar, and Washington and Lee.
  • EMU and Lynchburg took part in the Darius Dixon Memorial hosted by Liberty University.
  • Lynchburg also sent a few men's competitors to Massachusetts for the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
  • Virginia Wesleyan competed in the Pre-National Meet hosted at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
  • Lynchburg's men's team and Washington and Lee's men's program competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Results Note: the NCAA championships in 2026 will be competed on an oversized/banked track, whereas the ODAC championships will be competed on a flat 200-meter surface. On the ODAC performance lists, any track times registered on flat tracks for events over 60-meters will be recorded natively with no conversion. When ODAC teams compete on a banked or different-size track, those times over 60-meters will be converted to 200-meter flat track standards for ODAC performance chart rankings. On the Division III performance lists, any times competed for events over 60 meters on 200-meter flat surfaces will be converted to oversized/banked standards for national rankings. If events over 60 meters are competed on oversized/banked tracks, the resulting marks will be posted natively for NCAA ranking considerations. For ODAC record consideration, no converted marks will be used. Only the actual marks registered during competition will be used for possible record book entries.

  • KACEY KELLY | LYNCHBURG | JUMPS
Kelly, a senior from Woodbridge, Va., competed twice in the horizontal jumps at the Darius Dixon Memorial hosted by Liberty University. Kelly was the top Division III finisher in both the triple jump and long jump in largely Division I fields of competitors. She placed 19th in the triple jump at 11.64 meters (38-2.25), which is second in the ODAC and the South Region only to her previous season-best mark (11.77m). Her newest leap would slot 13th in the posted Division III table. She currently sits tied for seventh with her previous distance. Kelly was also the top Division III finisher in the long jump, placing 19th overall at 5.13 meters (16-10.00). That is just 0.01 meters off her previous season-best, leaving her tied for fourth in the conference.

  • ESTER ZAR | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | DISTANCE
Zar, a first-year from Jonkoping, Sweden, put together a strong effort in a pair of distance races at the Pre-National meet hosted at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Zar won the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 17:52.21. That time is not only tops in the ODAC, but it reset the Virginia Wesleyan program record by nearly 40 seconds (18:30.85.). Zar's new mark ranks fourth in the South Region and, when converted for track banking and size, slots first in the ODAC at 18:00.47. Zar also competed in the 3,000-meter run, placing fourth overall and first among Division III competitors with a second new personal collegiate-best time at 10:24.16. That mark is sixth in the region and her converted time of 10:29.53 is second in the conference.

  • LAMONT VICTORIA | LYNCHBURG | JUMPS/SPRINTS
Victoria, a senior from Richmond, Va., shined both in the high jump and the 200-meter dash while competing at the Darius Dixon Memorial hosted by Liberty University. In the high jump, Victoria placed second overall and first among Division III competitors at 2.01 meters (6-7.00).
