Generals Sit Second, Kaufman and Van Asch Tied for Lead Following Three Rounds at NCAA Men's Golf

Guilford Moves Up Four Spots to 13th, McEwen One Back of Leaders

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. --- ODAC players will have something to say about both the team and individual titles with Washington and Lee University just five strokes back in second play and WLU's Tim Kaufman joining Alan Van Asch from the University of Lynchburg as two of the three players tied for the individual lead following 54 holes of play at the Division III Men's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

All teams and players competed on the El Campeon course for their third sets of 18 holes. The par-72 track set to 6,678 yards on Thursday -- 100 shorter than its setup in rounds one and two -- will again be the feature course on Friday. Play in the final round begins at 8:00 a.m. ET (tee times).

The nationally eighth-ranked Generals maintained their grip on second place with a 2-over 290 to sit at even-par for the tournament at 860. That score leaves them five shots behind No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan University, which carded an even-par 288 on day three.

Players from WLU and IWU along with competitors from third-place Kenyon College tee off on hole No. 1 at 9:50-11:30 a.m. ET.

Guilford College continued its ascent up the leader board. The 31st-ranked Quakers improved 20 positions from 38th following round one to 18th by the end of round two to make the cut on Wednesday. They climbed four more spots to 13th on Thursday, posting an even-par 288 to bring their tournament figure to 22-over 882 and tied with No. 16 LeTourneau University.

The Quakers return to the course from 8:50-9:30 a.m. ET on hole No. 10.

Three ODAC golfers are among the top-four players on the individual leaderboard. Kaufman and Van Asch are joined by first-round leader Adrian Jordan from Kenyon College at 7-under 208. All three players carded rounds of 2-under 70 on Thursday. Van Asch, ranked 32nd in the country, posted four birdies and an unlikely eagle on the par-4 431-yard 11th hole. Kaufman, the 11th-ranked player in Division III, registered six birdies including four over his final six holes.

Van Asch begins his final round just before the top-three teams at 9:40 a.m. ET.

WLU's Jonathan McEwen, the top-ranked player in the Division since last march, showed everyone why on Thursday with a clean 4-under 68 to leave him one back of the leaders at 6-under 209. The reigning Jack Nicklaus Award winner as the best player in Division III and recent selection to Team USA for the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup carded four birdies with 14 pars.

Statistically, Washington and Lee leads the field in par-3 scoring (+3, 3.05). Guilford is second in birdies (49), five behind No. 4 Carnegie Mellon University.

Individually, McEwen leads all players in par-3 scoring (-5, 2.58) with teammate Charlie Krasnewich tied for seventh (-1, 2.92). Van Asch is two shots better to par than the next player in par-4 scoring (-4, 3.87). Kaufman can say the same about his lead in par-5 scoring (-9, 4.18). He is also No. 1 in birdies (17) with Van Asch and McEwen tied for seventh (12).
