ODAC Wrestling Report: Week 15

  • RAYSHAWN DIXON | FERRUM | SR. | 285 LBS. | FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.
    Dixon, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., finished up the 2024 regular season with a pair of wins in Ferrum's 1-1 showing in ODAC dual matches last week. Dixon, the third-ranked heavyweight in Division III and top-ranked competitor at 285 pounds in the Southeast Region by the NWCA, opened with a win by fall at 1:59 on the mat over Amarion Wilson in the Panthers 39-11 team win over Greensboro. Dixon made it two wins despite Ferrum's 30-16 team loss to 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee. He squared off with John Ryan Sedovy, the second-ranked wrestler in the region. Dixon used overtime to defeat WLU's heavyweight, 3-1, by decision. Dixon is now 27-0 on the season with 12 wins by fall, three tech falls, and a major decision.

  • MAC CAFURELLO | ROANOKE | JR. | 125 LBS. | CLIFTON, VA.
    Cafurello, a junior from Clifton, Va., picks up his second straight ODAC weekly award after closing the regular season with a nationally-ranked victory. Cafurello, the 13th-ranked competitor in Division III and second-ranked wrestler in the Southeast Region at 125 pounds by the NWCA, helped 15th-ranked Roanoke defeat Averett, 22-12, to wrap up the ODAC regular season championship. Cafurello squared off with nationally sixth-ranked and regionally top-ranked Mason Barrett. The two engaged in an epic bout that went deep into overtime with Cafurello earning a 3-2 win on tiebreakers (riding time).
