BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The first day of the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships saw six ODAC athletes earn All-America distinction including a trio of NCAA first teamers on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
Washington and Lee University thrower Bailey Hedgemon was joined by the University of Lynchburg duo of distance star Alex Jordan and speedster Lamont Victoria as First Team NCAA All-Americans. Victoria also reset the ODAC record in the 60-meter dash prelims, posting a new league standard of 0:06.70.
A total of seven ODAC standouts were in action on day one with several more set to compete on Saturday. That includes Victoria, who not only has the 60-meter finals on his day-two docket, but the high jump competition as well.
Roanoke College mid-distance runner Elias Ammon earned a Second Team USTFCCCA All-American nod along with Generals' men's first-year hurdler Macky Gartley and women's sprinter Jesma Evans. Lynchburg multi-event standout Micah Leech has competed in four of the seven events in the men's heptathlon. He has 2,874 total points so far.
