BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The “fastest man in Division III” is from ODAC country!
University of Lynchburg standout Lamont Victoria earned a pair of All-American honors on Saturday highlighted by the Division III title in the 60-meter dash to headline the ODAC's contingent of athletes on day two at the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
Victoria won the 60-dash in a photo-finish, standing atop the podium by 0.001 seconds with a time of 0:06.702. Dylan Ross from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh registered a time of 0:06.703. Victoria was the last of the original 20 competitors to qualify for the event. But he turned in an ODAC record performance in the prelims (0:06.70) and then sped his way to victory from lane one to make it three straight years that at least one Lynchburg competitor has won a Division III indoor gold medal.
