Victoria "Fastest Man in Division III" After Winning 60-Meter Dash Title

Last Updated: post Day 2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The “fastest man in Division III” is from ODAC country!

University of Lynchburg standout Lamont Victoria earned a pair of All-American honors on Saturday highlighted by the Division III title in the 60-meter dash to headline the ODAC's contingent of athletes on day two at the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

Victoria won the 60-dash in a photo-finish, standing atop the podium by 0.001 seconds with a time of 0:06.702. Dylan Ross from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh registered a time of 0:06.703. Victoria was the last of the original 20 competitors to qualify for the event. But he turned in an ODAC record performance in the prelims (0:06.70) and then sped his way to victory from lane one to make it three straight years that at least one Lynchburg competitor has won a Division III indoor gold medal.

A second NCAA First Team All-American award went to Victoria in the high jump. He and Connor Smith from Ohio Wesleyan University cleared 2.12 meters (6-11.50). Smith achieved that height in fewer attempts to earn the gold medal with Victoria claiming silver.

Lynchburg's All-American haul on day two featured three more athletes. Micah Leech chimed in fifth in the men's heptathlon, posting 5,103 points to earn First Team NCAA All-American laurels. Chasen Hunt added to his trophy case with a fourth place finish in the men's 3,000-meter run. His time of 8:09.12 earned him First Team NCAA All-American honors. Jamarcus Brown joined Victoria in the men's high jump competition. Brown tied for 14th at 1.98 meters (6-6.00) to earn Second Team USTFCCCA All-American recognition.

High jump success also came for Washington and Lee University's Camille Gillum. She cleared 1.64 meters (5-4.50) to placed 14th and earn Second Team USTFCCCA All-American accolades.
