  • CHARLIE DAVIS | ROANOKE | LINEBACKER
Davis, a sophomore from Radford, Va., had a monster game in helping Roanoke recover from a 14-10 fourth-quarter deficit to post a 24-14 road win at Bridgewater on Saturday. The Maroons are now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the ODAC games in their first varsity season since 1942. Davis tied for ODAC weekly-high honors with 17 tackles including 15 solo stops, which is the most in the ODAC this season and tied for the most in Division III with Toby Splitt from Augustana College (Ill.). Davis registered 2.5 tackles for a loss that cost Bridgewater 18 yards of offense. That included a six-yard strip-sack that the Eagles' quarterback recovered. However, that third quarter play was just the first of two fumble contributions by the second-year linebacker. His other came in the fourth quarter and led directly to the first of two Maroons' touchdowns that flipped the score for the win. At the outset of the final frame, Javier Waldron made a stop on a BC runner and forced a fumble with Davis pouncing on the loose ball at the Eagles 19-yard line. Three plays later, Roanoke went ahead for good with a touchdown run for a 17-14 lead. For the season, Davis is tied for first in the ODAC in solo tackles (37) and ranks fifth in total stops (53). He is tied for sixth in TFLs (5.5).

  • MEKHI BROWN | SHENANDOAH | QUARTERBACK
Brown, a first-year from Owings Mills, Md., has made plenty of noise in his first two weeks of collegiate action including his first ODAC weekly award following a 45-7 win at Guilford. Brown tossed four touchdown passes in 2.5 quarters of work to help set the tone in the Hornets second straight victory, both with Brown at the helm. He was 14-of-20 for 251 yards against Quakers, connecting with four different receivers on touchdown passes to offset one interception. The first scoring throw went to Jalen Redfearn on a 79-yard catch-and-run for a 7-0 lead following SU's first possession and one-play drive at the 10:49 mark. It was the other end of the spectrum for Brown's second TD pass, this time a 1-yard flip to Jackson McFarland for a 21-0 advantage midway through the second quarter. Brown connected on two touchdown passes in the third quarter, hooking with Carter Rodriguez on a 5-yard play at the 13:03 mark and then Christian Forrest on an 18-yard scoring pass with 7:18 on the clock. Brown averaged 17.9 yards on his 14 completions with four plays over 15 yards including a pair of 50-plus bursts. Over his first two outings, Brown is 36-of-54 for 479 yards and five touchdowns through the air. He has also run for 46 yards and a touchdown.

  • XAVIER EDELEN | BRIDGEWATER | CORNERBACK/RETURNER
Edelen, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., nearly provided Bridgewater with the points and impact it needed from the return game in the Eagles 24-14 loss to Roanoke on Saturday. Edelen returned a pair of punts for 95 total yards. The bulk of those yards came on an 89-yard cross field sprint to paydirt. That touchdown, which included evading a few would-be tacklers, gave Bridgewater a 14-10 lead with 1:21 to play in the third quarter. Edelen's return is the longest in Division III this season and covered the most yards in the country since a 90-yard effort by Terrell Harris from Hope College versus Loras College on September 9, 2023. Edelen's burst is the longest in the ODAC since a 96-yard jaunt by Nathaniel Hill from Shenandoah against Guilford on September 28, 2019.

    • GENERAL NOTES
