LEIGHTON CHAPMAN | WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Chapman, a junior from Houston, Texas, enjoyed four gold medal finishes on the way to his first ODAC weekly award of the season following Washington and Lee's 177-85 win over Lynchburg. Chapman won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 0:20.83 and 0:46.77, respectively. His 50-free time is No. 1 on the ODAC table and ranks 14th in Division III. His 100-free mark would slot roughly 32nd in the country had he not already posted the ODAC's best time at 0:46.29, which is perched 16th in the nation. Chapman also contributed to a pair of relay wins. In the 200-yard medley relay, Chapman swam the anchor leg and joined Charles Byars, Harrison Cerone, and Zane Ross on a winning time of 1:32.37. Chapman then moved to the lead-leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a 0:21.18 split on the way to a winning time of 1:24.12 with Thomas Denton, Byars, and Dalton Jobe. The 200-medley time is No. 1 in the ODAC and 10th in Division III, while the 200-free mark is second in the conference only to WLU's previous-best time of 1:23.30, which is third in the nation.
