ODAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 9

It was an almost 50-50 mix of ODAC versus non-conference matches over the past week with seven league outings and eight out of conference matchups. Nationally 18th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan was the most active outfit, posting a 4-0 record overall including one conference win to improve to 26-1 overall and 9-0 in ODAC play. Lynchburg and Randolph both went 3-0 with one conference win each, while Guilford and No. 24 Washington and Lee posted a 2-0 record with one league win for the Quakers and both triumphs in-conference for the Generals. Lynchburg (22-2) and WLU (20-5) have both eclipsed 20 victories with Hornets in solo second at 8-1 in conference matches. The Generals are joined by Bridgewater (16-6) at 8-3 in league contests.

  • AVA MEINHARDT | LYNCHBURG | MIDDLE
    Meinhardt, a junior from Jefferson City, Mo., collects her first ODAC weekly honor of the season as a defensive force at the net in Lynchburg's 3-0 week. The Hornets continue to receive votes (99) towards the AVCA top-25 at 22-2 overall. Meinhardt registered 12 total blocks at 1.33 per set with five solo rejections to go with six digs. She also hammered 19 kills and notched one ace. In a 3-0 win at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday, Meinhardt helped the Hornets improve to 8-1 in league play with six total blocks including three solo, adding in one kill and an ace offensively. On Saturday in a tri-match at Stevenson University, Meinhardt helped Lynchburg post a pair of 3-0 wins over the host Mustangs and Rutgers-Camden. She recorded two blocks (1 solo) and four digs to go with 12 kills on a .455 hitting percentage. In match two, she posted four blocks (one solo) with two digs and six kills. For the season, Meinhardt leads the ODAC in solo blocks (30) and is second in total blocks (74), third in blocks per set (0.84), and fifth in attack percentage (.297, 153-47-357).

  • NIYA NASH | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | SETTER
    Nash, a junior from Woodbridge, Va., earns her second ODAC weekly award of the season after helping nationally 18th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan improve to 26-1 by going 4-0 over the past week. Nash was the fine-tuned engine behind the Marlins attack, posting 121 assists at 10.08 per set against just one set-error to go with eight aces, three kills, 25 digs, and three blocks. In a 3-0 win at EMU on Wednesday, Nash handed out 27 assists with a pair of kills and three aces. She added nine digs and a block. Nash then helped VWU go 3-0 at a quad-match hosted by the University of Scranton with a trio of 3-0 victories. On Friday, Nash again dished out 27 assists with an ace and one dig in defeating Susquehanna University. Saturday's two matches started with Nash posting 35 assists and a kill with two aces, six digs, and a block against Elizabethtown College. Then 32 of her passes went for kills against the host Royals with Nash adding two aces, nine digs, and a block. For the season, Nash leads the ODAC in assists (968) and assists per set (10.41), which rank sixth and ninth in Division III, respectively. She is fourth in the conference in aces (46).

    • Guilford middle Madison Duvall registered seven blocks and 19 kills at a .500 clip, while outside Natalie Moore 26 kills on a .317 attack percentage with four aces in the Quakers' 2-0 week.
    • Lynchburg opposite Kate Hardie smacked 30 kills at a .373 clip with four aces, 13 digs, and four blocks in the Hornets' 3-0 week.
    • Randolph setter Kailee Turner handed out 93 assists (9.3/set) with two aces and six blocks in the WildCats' 3-0 week. She topped 1,000 career assists in a 3-1 win over Averett.
    • Virginia Wesleyan middle Breanna Brooks went for 32 kills on a .596 percentage with 15 total blocks (3 solo) in the No. 18 Marlins' 4-0 week.
    • Washington and Lee outside Riley Debiec collected 19 kills on a .386 percentage with three aces and nine digs in the No. 24 Generals' 2-0 week.
