ODAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 4

ODAC women's volleyball jumped into conference play in earnest with just one non-conference match in a busy week. Both Lynchburg and nationally 23rd-ranked Virginia Wesleyan went 3-0 in ODAC matches with the Marlins improving to 14-0 overall and the Hornets – who received votes towards the latest AVCA poll – moved to 13-1 and became the first team to defeat sixth-ranked Washington and Lee this season. Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon, Roanoke, and Shenandoah each won two league matches.

  • VIVI VASQUEZ | WASHINGTON AND LEE | LIBERO
    Vasquez, a junior from St. Johns, Fla., averaged nearly seven assists per set in helping nationally sixth-ranked Washington and Lee open ODAC play with a 1-1 record over a pair of away matches. On Friday at Randolph, Vasquez notched 21 digs and handed out five assists in the Generals 3-0 win over the WildCats. On Saturday, posted 31 digs with four assists and a pair of aces in a 3-2 thriller of a loss at Lynchburg, which received votes towards last week's AVCA top-25 poll. Vasquez made just one receiving error in 23 chances for a .957 reception percentage over the two matches. For the season, Vasquez leads the ODAC in digs per set (5.43) and is tied for third in total digs (201).

  • LEAH DINARDO | LYNCHBURG | MIDDLE HITTER
    Dinardo, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., was stellar in Lynchburg's three conference matches last week to help the Hornets – who received votes towards the latest AVCA top-25 poll – improve to 13-1 overall. Dinardo registered 39 kills and hit .370 from the middle of Lynchburg's front line. She tacked on five total blocks and five digs defensively. In a 3-0 victory at Randolph during the midweek, DiNardo registered eight kills while hitting .357. In the first ODAC weekend double match on Friday, DiNardo hammered 15 kills against just two errors for a .448 attack percentage in a 3-1 win over Bridgewater. She added four total blocks and two digs against the Eagles. On Saturday, the Hornets became the first team this season to defeat nationally sixth-ranked Washington and Lee. DiNardo recorded 16 kills and hit .316 in Lynchburg's 3-2 triumph, chipping in a pair of digs and a block defensively. For the season, DiNardo is sixth in the ODAC in attack percentage (.298). She is averaging 2.13 kills and 0.51 blocks per set.

    • Averett outside Tahani Villines posted 16 kills and 15 digs with nine service aces in two ODAC matches last week. She notched eight of those aces against 23rd-ranked Virginia Wesleyan.
    • Bridgewater setter Maya Veselinovic handed out 53 assists with six total blocks in BC's 2-1 showing to start ODAC play. Libero Anna Black collected 41 digs.
    • EMU libero Felicity Jones picked up 26 digs and middle Kenley Smith had 18 kills with seven total blocks as the Royals went 1-1 in ODAC matches.
    • Guilford defensive specialist Amber Chiarolanzio posted 22 digs with seven aces – including a career-high five against Randolph-Macon – in the Quakers first two league matches. Outside Chrisbel Alcantara had 27 kills and five total blocks.
    • Lynchburg libero Morgan Clarke registered 51 digs – including 20 in a four-set win over Bridgewater – and handed out 14 aces in the Hornets 3-0 start to ODAC play.
    • Randolph-Macon libero Kaitlyn Kaplan registered 39 digs and two aces while outside Allison Lach went for 33 kills, 32 digs, and three total blocks in the Yellow Jackets 2-0 week against ODAC foes.
    • Roanoke setter Raygan Wade handed out 58 assists with six aces and two total blocks in the Maroons 2-1 week in ODAC play. Libero Teagan Hubble registered 46 digs and three aces.
    • Shenandoah libero Autumn Stroop notched 52 digs with five aces in the Hornets 2-1 showing to start ODAC play.
    • Virginia Wesleyan setter Niya Nash passed out 126 assists at 11.45/set to go with five aces and two total blocks to help the 23rd-ranked Marlins to a 3-0 showing against ODAC competition. Middle Breana Brooks posted 27 kills while hitting .382 with nine total blocks.
    • Washington and Lee outside Riley Debiec notched 41 kills and hit .307 in the sixth-ranked Generals 1-1 showing in ODAC play. Debiec became the 14th General to crack 1,000 career kills on Saturday at Lynchburg.
