ODAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 7

Week 7 was a mixed bag for ODAC women's volleyball teams as just five of their 17 matches were competed in-league. Averett, Bridgewater, Lynchburg, Randolph, and Randolph-Macon each improved upon their conference standings win-loss record with one victory. Despite losing for the first time this season, nationally 19th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan was the first ODAC team to reach 20 wins, now standing at 20-1. They are 6-0 in league play, just ahead of Lynchburg at 5-1. The Hornets are 17-2 overall as they look for their first 20-win season since going 24-10 in 2012. Bridgewater and Randolph-Macon are 5-2 in the league, while No. 18 Washington and Lee and Shenandoah are 4-2.

  • LEAH DINARDO | LYNCHBURG | MIDDLE
    DiNardo, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., collects her second ODAC weekly award following a stellar outing contributing on both sides of the net in a 3-0 victory over Guilford College. Defensively, Dinardo turned back five attacks for a 1.67 per-set average. On offense, the Hornets' three-rotation middle posted the second-highest attack percentage in school history at .750. She hammered nine kills on 12 swings without an error, giving her a total of 11.5 points overall. For the season, DiNardo is fourth in the ODAC in attack percentage (.318 – 151-57-327), tied for fifth in total blocks (47), and 13th in blocks per set (0.65).

  • GRACE MITCHENER | WASHINGTON AND LEE | OUTSIDE
    Mitchener, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., returns to the ODAC weekly awards platform after helping nationally 18th-ranked Washington and Lee to a 1-1 in a tri-match at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. Mitchner collected 34 kills and hit .250 to go with four assists, two aces, 31 digs, and a block. In the 3-2 loss to the host Ducks, Mitchener went for 15 kills and 17 digs along with four assists and an ace. She turned up the production in a 3-1 victory over the University of Scranton, hammering home 19 kills at a .319 clip. She added an ace, 14 digs, and a solo block to her line. For the season, Mitchener leads the ODAC in kills per set (4.30). She is third in total kills (215) and seventh in attack percentage (.286 – 215-41-609).

    • Averett middle Allie Wilkerson posted 17 kills with 5 blocks and outside Sydney Mounce added 17 more kills and six digs in 3-0 wins over Hollins and Warren Wilson.
    • In Bridgewater's 3-0 win over Roanoke, libero Anna Black posted 18 digs with four aces, while opposite Faith DePew went for 14 kills at a .417 clip.
    • EMU libero Emerson Moats picked up 29 digs and notched six aces each against Sweet Briar (W, 3-0) and Randolph-Macon (L, 3-1).
    • Guilford middle Madison Duvall posted 19 kills – including 11 at a .688 clip against Johnson & Wales – with two aces, 12 digs, and three blocks against Lynchburg (L, 3-0) and JWU (W, 3-0).
    • Randolph middle Brooklyn Finnerty registered 30.0 total points on seven blocks and 22 kills at a .356 attack percentage, while outside Caroline Towle added 17 kills, 42 digs, and six aces in the WildCats 1-1 week against Roanoke (W, 3-2) and Virginia Union (L,3-0).
    • Washington and Lee libero Vivi Vasquez posted 59 digs to go with 13 assists in the Generals 1-1 showing at Stevens (L, 3-2) where they also played Scranton (W, 3-1).
