ODAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 10

The final conference matches of the regular season are quickly approaching with the ODAC women's volleyball bracket set to be released Wednesday evening once all contests are complete. The past week was heavy with non-conference play with 17 of the 22 matches on the docket featuring matches against non-ODAC foes. Three programs remain in the AVCA top-25 led by ODAC chart-topper Virginia Wesleyan (27-1, 10-0) at No. 18. Washington and Lee (20-6, 8-3) sits 24th, while Lynchburg (24-3, 9-1) slots 25th.

  • CASSI BLACKMORE | LYNCHBURG | LIBERO/DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST
    Blackmore, a senior from Nolensville, Tenn., picked up 31 digs with just two reception errors over nine sets of action to help nationally 25th-ranked Lynchburg to a 2-1 week that included one ODAC victory as the Hornets sit second in the conference table at 9-1 (24-3 overall). In a 3-0 win over EMU on Wednesday, Blackmore registered eight digs while also contributing three assists and a trio of aces. Lynchburg then traveled to the Eastern Shore for a tri-match with the University of Mary Washington at Salisbury University. In a 3-0 win over UMW, Blackmore posted 14 digs while again chipping in three assists plus an ace. She then registered nine digs with three more assists, two aces, and a kill in a 3-0 loss to host Sea Gulls, who are receiving votes towards the AVCA top-25. For the season, Blackmore has posted 108 digs over 73 sets for a 1.48 per-set average.

  • KATE HARDIE | LYNCHBURG | OPPOSITE
    Hardie, a graduate student from Rustburg, Va., collects her first ODAC weekly award of the season after collecting 34 kills on a .441 hitting percentage to go with four aces, seven digs, and four blocks to help the nationally 25th-ranked Hornets to a 2-1 week. In a 3-0 win over EMU on Wednesday, Hardie registered 12 kills and made just one error on 17 swings towards a .647 attack percentage. She chipped in two aces, four digs, and a block. Lynchburg then traveled east for a tri-match with the University of Mary Washington at Salisbury University. In a 3-0 win over UMW, Hardie posted seven kills at a .250 clip with an assist, two more aces, and two blocks. She then hit .423 to power her way to 15 kills, a dig, and a block in a 3-0 loss to the host Sea Gulls, who are receiving votes towards the latest AVCA top-25 poll. For the season, Hardie is second in the ODAC in total points earned (360.5), third in kills (293), fifth in points per set (3.76), seventh in kills per set (3.05) and aces (45), and 12th in attack percentage (.260; 293-110-705).

    • EMU middle Kenley Smith registered 17 kills and hit .366 with six blocks in the Royals' 1-1 week against ODAC foes.
    • Guilford libero Vivian Cavataio posted 35 digs with nine assists and six aces, while outside Natalie Moore went for 32 kills at a .276 clip with seven aces, 22 digs, and three blocks in the Quakers' 3-0 week. Moore became the fourth Quaker to surpass 1,000 career kills in their 3-0 win over Hollins on Saturday.
    • Roanoke libero Teagan Hubble registered 72 digs over 12 sets with six assists and seven aces in the Maroons' three match week.
    • Virginia Wesleyan outside Madi Schmidt posted 15 kills and hit .500 with an ace and five digs in the No. 18 Marlins 3-0 win over Randolph-Macon.
