ODAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 3

ODAC teams competed in 18 games over the past week including the first conference outing that saw No. 6 Washington and Lee earn a home win over Lynchburg (67-54). In non-conference games, league programs went an eye-opening 15-2 with Bridgewater, Guilford, Hollins, No. 21 Randolph-Macon, and Shenandoah winning twice each. The Generals are now 6-0 with GC and SU both 4-0. HU is now 5-1 with BC, LYN, and Virginia Wesleyan sitting at 4-1.

  • ALICEA FARMER | ROANOKE | GUARD/FORWARD
    Farmer, a junior from Danville, Va., did a little bit of everything to help Roanoke to a 70-62 win over N.C. Wesleyan University in the Maroons' lone contest of the week. Farmer registered her second career-double (1st this season) with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nine of her boards came via the defensive glass. She tied a career-high with five steals, four of which came in the fourth quarter to help secure the win. She added two assists and two blocked shots. For the season, Farmer is averaging 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds with five blocked shots and eight steals.

  • AUDRA PETTY | LYNCHBURG | GUARD
    Petty, a sophomore from Randleman, N.C., continued her hot start to the season with a pair of 20-plus point efforts to help Lynchburg to a 1-1 week. Petty has eclipsed 20 points scored in 3-of-5 games this season marking the first three 20-point games of her career. On Tuesday in a 77-70 win over William Peace University, Petty poured in a career-high 28 points to go with nine rebounds. She was 10-of-22 from the field including 4-of-9 from three-point territory. She was also 4-of-6 from the line and notched an assist. On Saturday in a 67-54 loss at No. 6 Washington and Lee in the first conference game of the season, Petty led all players with 21 points. She was 9-of-20 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line. She added six rebounds and a steal while not turning the ball over for a second straight game. For the season, Petty is third in the ODAC in scoring (18.8) and fifth in points scored (94). She is fourth in three-pointers made (10), fifth in three-point shooting (.385), and 10th in rebounding (7.4).

    • Averett guard DaiShaundria Giggetts posted a game-high 20 points with 3 boards and 4 steals in a 57-51 win over Pfeiffer.
    • Bridgewater post Jay Garcia averaged 9.5 points and 11.0 rebounds with 9 assists and 3 steals in the Eagles' 2-0 week. Playmaker Riley Corcoran averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds with 2 assists and 6 steals.
    • EMU guard Grace Burke averaged 22.0 points and 6.5 rebounds with 3 assists and 6 steals in EMU's 0-2 week. She set a new career-high with 26 points at Wilson College.
    • Guilford forward Briahna Scott averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds with 6 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocked shots in the Quakers' 2-0 week. Guard Evelyn George averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 boards with 3 assists and 5 steals.
    • Hollins guard Sarah Morales averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds with 5 steals to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Empowerment Classic hosted by Hollins.
    • Roanoke guard Ashley Fowler posted 18 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the Maroons' 70-62 win over N.C. Wesleyan.
    • Shenandoah guard Addisyn Banks averaged 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds with 6 assists and 2 steals in the Hornets' 2-0 week that included a 63-52 win over No. 24 Gettysburg at the RMC Tournament.
    • Virginia Wesleyan forward Brianna Long scored 14 points with 16 rebounds and 5 steals in the Marlins' 69-31 win over Regent.
    • Washington and Lee guard Sam Collins posted 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-6 from 3pt) in the No. 6 Generals' 67-54 win over Lynchburg.
