ODAC Men's Soccer Report: Week 2

ODAC men's soccer continued to shine through week two with four squads unbeaten and four with three wins. Both Roanoke (3-0-0) and Hampden-Sydney (2-0-0) have known nothing but winning so far in 2025, while Virginia Wesleyan (3-0-1), Bridgewater (3-1-0), and Randolph-Macon (3-1-0) have earned three wins each. Lynchburg (2-0-2) has drawn twice in addition to posting two wins. The ODAC is currently 23-11-10 (.636) in early non-league action.

  • RYAN MCADAMS | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | RWB
McAdams, a senior from Colonial Heights, Va., not only helped the Marlins register a pair of victories defensively, but he got involved in the offense for the second straight week in Virginia Wesleyan's 2-0 week. McAdams, a right wingback for head coach Shane Kohler's squad, contributed to a defensive unit that allowed just two shots total in a 2-1 win over the University of Redlands and 1-0 shutout over William Paterson University. Against WPU, McAdams scored the game's lone goal – his second of the season – after he was denied an assist by the WPU goalkeeper's foot only for the loose ball to fall to him, which buried into the back of the net. McAdams now has three career goals joining his one tally from his first season in 2022.

  • JAYKOB GARBIA | GUILFORD | F
Garbia, a junior from Copenhagen, Demark, set a Guilford single-game record for points as part of the Quakers 1-1 week. While a constant threat with four shots including two on-goal in a 2-0 loss at Greensboro College on the weekend, Garbia was the standout performer in the Quakers 10-0 explosion over visiting Bluefield University. Garbia collected 10 points in the outing, setting a GC single-game mark with four goals and a pair of assists. His first Quaker to net four goals in a game since 2019, tying former standout Kenny Nzekwe for another Guilford benchmark. Garbia was involved in six straight GC goals – from the second through the seventh – scoring the Quakers second and third markers just 33-seconds a part at 16:41 and 17:14. He joined brother Isaac Garbia on assisting Ken Vasquez for a 4-0 lead. Just after halftime, Jaykob made it 5-0 Quakers at 46:04 before providing the scoring pass to Hector Rodriguez at 50:07. Jaykob added his record-tying fourth tally in the 62nd minute for a 7-0 Guilford advantage.

    • Bridgewater goalkeeper Zane Kowalski made three total saves in wins over Southern Virginia (2-1) and John Jay (6-1), while forward Riley Queen had a goal in each contest, moving into 10th all-time at BC with his marker against John Jay.
    • EMU midfielder Oliver Rivera assisted on the Royals' first goal and scored the second in a 2-2 draw with Johnson & Wales (N.C.).
    • Lynchburg's Viscuso brothers had strong weeks with midfielder Matthew scoring the game-winning goal in the 86th-minute of a 3-2 triumph at. St. Mary's (Md.), while goalkeeper Thomas made eight combined saves against SMC and in a 1-1 draw at Salisbury.
    • Randolph-Macon forward Grayson Woods was on the mark three times with a goal in a 2-1 win over Kean University and two tallies – his first collegiate multi-goal game – in a 6-2 triumph over Regent University.
    • Roanoke midfielder Carter Laatsch notched his first career multi-goal game with three tallies and defender Cameron Viator scored the other in a 4-1 victory over Brevard College.
    • Shenandoah midfielder Olvin Martinez scored twice and dished out an assist in a 5-0 win over Mary Baldwin and assisted on SU's goal in a 1-1 draw with Kean University.
    • Virginia Wesleyan forward Zach Bittler stayed hot with the game's first and an assist on the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over the University of Redlands.
