  • PHOENIX ANDES-STOWELL | SHENANDOAH | DEFENSIVE END
Andes-Stowell, a junior from Midlothian, Va., came up with big plays on defense and special teams in a personal-best day to help Shenandoah return to the win column with a 38-20 triumph at Averett University. Andes-Stowell matched his career-high with nine tackles including a personal-best six solo stops highlighted by 3.0 tackles for a loss. He registered a sack on a third down play in the first quarter with no points on the scoreboard for either squad. In the second quarter, one of his TFLs forced Averett from a 3rd-and-1 scenario to a 4th-and-5 setback that became a turnover on downs on the subsequent play. Late in the first quarter, Andes-Stowell contributed to the Hornets' special teams by blocking a punt, returning possession to SU at the AU 23-yard line. The Hornets' offense made it 14-0 visitors three plays later. For the season, Andes-Stowell has made 19 total tackles (12 solo) with an ODAC fifth-best 5.0 for a loss highlighted by 3.0 sacks.

  • TY COLLINS | WASHINGTON AND LEE | QUARTERBACK
Collins, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., came up with not one but two go-ahead touchdown runs including the game-deciding score in Washington and Lee's 20-17 triumph over No. 23 Randolph-Macon in Lexington on Saturday. The Generals win snapped a 33-game conference-play winning streak for Randolph-Macon, which dated back to WLU's 25-24 victory over RMC on September 25, 2021. Collins led Washington and Lee's rushing attack with a career-high 109 yards on 20 carries, spurring the Generals to 304 yards on the ground and a 37:07-to-22:53 advantage in time of possession. Collins' two TD runs both came via the right-side of WLU's line. His first covered 10 yards when he chose to keep the ball on an option-read and sprinted untouched to the corner of the end zone to give the Generals a 13-10 lead with 3:31 showing on the third quarter clock. With 3:16 to play in regulation, Collins was nearly untouched over the right side on a straight run, out-pacing would-be tackles 15-yards to the pylon to post the eventual final score, 20-17. Collins' use of the option was stellar throughout the game, helping running back Ryan Clemens post 100 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, several of which were option-pitches from Collins. Collins was also 3-of-5 passing for 34 yards. For the season, Collins is sixth in the ODAC in rushing with 237 yards and three touchdowns on 53 carries. He is 28-of-58 passing for 369 yards.

Bermudez, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., became just the third kicker in ODAC history to make a field goal of 50 or more yards in helping Bridgewater post its first win of the season with a come-from-behind 19-14 triumph at Guilford College. Bermudez accounted for nine points in the game as he booted a trio of field goals, converting on his first three attempts of the season. He posted the Eagles first points with a 22-yard kick to cut Guilford's lead to 7-3 with 14:13 showing on the second-quarter clock. Bermudez gave BC its first lead of the game midway through the fourth quarter. He converted a 31-yard field goal for a 16-14 Eagles' lead with 6:41 to play. Then came his record book-entry kick with 0:56 left in regulation. He buried a 50-yard field goal to join former Bridgewater kicker Michael Padgett – 52 yards vs. Emory & Henry in 1998 – and Washington and Lee alum Matt Underhill – 51 yards vs. Guilford in 2015 – as the only players in ODAC history (1976-77 to present) to make a field goal of at least 50 yards. Bermudez is the ninth player to kick a 50-plus yard field goal in Division III this year, tying with two other players for seventh-longest in the country.
