MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- First-year punter
Fulton Weaver was named to the fifth
D3football.com Team of the Week of the season after an impressive performance in the Washington and Lee University football team's 34-7 win over Averett on Saturday.
Weaver, a first-year from Fort Worth, Texas, earned the first national recognition of his career while becoming the 18th player in program history to represent the Blue and White on the weekly Division III honor roll. This marks the second time this season that a General has been honored, as
Marcus Canton earned laurels in Week 1, making them the first duo since Marc Watson '01 and Will Baker '01 to earn selections in the same season.
Weaver punted four times on Saturday evening for 176 yards with a long of 52 yards, averaging 44 yards per punt. He pinned the Cougars deep inside their own territory on three of them, forcing them to start their drives once at the 7-yard line and twice at the 6-yard line.
The Generals are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they take on No. 23/25 Randolph-Macon at 1 p.m. at Wilson Field for their Peavey Project game.
