ODAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 2

ODAC women's lacrosse teams went 5-5 against non-conference foes in an 11-game week. The remaining contest was the first ODAC match of the season with nationally ninth-ranked Washington and Lee defeating Guilford (24-1). Lynchburg leads the table at 3-0 to start the season with Shenandoah 2-0 and Bridgewater victorious in its first outing. The league is 10-10 overall against non-conference opponents so far this season.

  • GILLIAN GLADDEN | RANDOLPH-MACON | GOALKEEPER
    Gladden, a senior from Taneytown, Md., registered a strong .683 save percentage with 28 stops in helping Randolph-Macon to a 1-1 showing against non-conference foes Mary Washington (L, 8-5) and McDaniel (W, 11-5). Against the Eagles, Gladden faced 29 shots and turned away 13 efforts for a .619 save percentage. She also collected a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover. At McDaniel, Gladden turned up the efficiency in making 15 saves and posting a .750 save percentage while facing 25 total shots. She again chipped in a pair of ground balls.

    Overeem, a sophomore from New Market, Md., was both mass producer and clutch performer in helping Bridgewater open the season with a 13-12 overtime triumph at Hood College. Overeem tallied three goals and dished out one assist for four points. She added a ground ball and a draw control to her line. Overeem scored the two most clutch goals of the game, securing both the game-tying goal that forced overtime with 0:27 to go in regulation, and converting a free-position shot 2:20 into the first overtime period to clinch the victory for the Eagles.
